Default RE: JR PC data transfer system

cutarug,

MacGregor Industries [email protected] made a program that would store the JR settings for many JR transmitters made for Europe and the US. I used it for a while. While the program seemed to store all the transmitter settings, not all the settings were displayed. The program may not still be available as they quit supporting it on their web site. The operation of it and PCData Transfer are very similar.

Actually, considering that he is in Australia, it would be the 8310 - only Horizon changed the name to 8103 for the US/North American markets. Everywhere else, it *was*the 8310 . . . . .

ORIGINAL: BuschBarber

Do you mean the JR8103? I do not believe the PC Data Transfer is compatible with the JR8103.

Well, I get a security signature error with the loading (on Vista) and it will not load. Horizon is no help.
I am so sick of the Vista garbage that I intend to have a local IT guy wipe the disk and install XP.
Vista has to be the worst operating system ever. Everything take twice as long and is clunky.

BigK9,
Did you try the workaround by temporarily disabling the signature verification process? Follow the steps below and then the software should work. It has worked for me. It is just a pain to remember to do it. I have been talking with a tech from Horizon and they need to get a new driver. My last conversation with him was they were going to do that. How long will it take, who knows. Let me know how you make out if you try the workaround.

You may get a data error when transferring the dat to or from your transmitter. but try it againand it should work..

How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
How to temporarily disable driver signature enforcement.
â— Reboot the computer.
â— During the reboot keep pushing the F8 key on the keyboard.
DO NOT press and hold the key but keep pressing it repeatedly.
This will take you to the Advanced Boot Options menu (which looks like an old DOS screen)
â— Select “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” and press Enter.
After this the computer will boot normally.

JR PC Data Transfer works on windows 10 if you Disable Driver Signature Enforcement. There are many videos on YouTube, it's very easy, few clicks only. Then restart and follow the installation instructions included in original JR Data Transfer CD.

This way I backedup all my models to transfer on a new

Hi. I'm trying to use my PC Data Transfer on Windows10 64bit. I see you posted a driver on your 64 bit system. Could I get a copy from you?

If I can find it I will let you know
I still have my JR XP9303 and the CD with the Data Transfer Software. I know I have the driver needed for Windows 10, somewhere.

Are you talking about the PC Data Transfer program or the 12X PC Data Transfer program because they are not the same? The PC Data Transfer program is a bunch older than the 12X program which came with the 12X radios but it had the old driver and the later versions of Windows after XP didn't like it. JR discontinued the PC Data Transfer quite some time before the 12X radio was released.

There is a driver for the 12X software and it will work with Win10 64 bit software, but if it's the older JR software, I don't think you'll have any chance of getting it working other than disabling the driver signature checking as outlined above.

I'm talking about the PC Data Transfer program. I'm working with the JR x9503 on a Win10 laptop 64 bit.

It should work for the 9503 as well.

Most definitely. I'd just like to regain functionality on product I bought (in this century) that was rendered unsupported by Horizon and crippled by MS. Talk about your one-two punch. It doesn't do much to instill confidence to buy new product lest it be crippled and/or unsupported too in short order.

When I find the driver, you should be OK. Most radios now use SD cards or WiFi built in to the Tx. With Spektrum, the Model Memories are individual formatted text files that can be read and edited via a computer. It is not unusual for software such as PC Data Transfer to become obsolete or unsupported as newer Operating Systems are replacing older ones. When MS Vista came along, my printer, scanner, and web cam would only work with XP. No drivers were being written to support older hardware. In a couple of years, those with Windows 7 will be faced with the same problem, most likely.

I have an iX12.
Does your statement about being edited with a computer apply to that transmitter do you know?

Thanks

I do not have either of the IX transmitters or any of the NX transmitters, but for the DX models, the filenames for each model memory end in .spm and are text files. They are formatted such that they are not easy to read. There was an editor created by an enduser that made editing these files somewhat simpler, but I have not used it in many years. Look on the Spectrum forums. You can use a simple text editor to look at these files.

I see it now.
I opened an .ispm file and see the information.

Thanks, and have a great Holiday Season!

Okay not sure if this driver file will work for you or not. Since you cannot upload an .exe file, I changed the file extension to .zip. After you download it, change the file name back to .exe and run it with Admin permission.

Good luck.

Okay I guess my efforts to get you going are not important enough to check the forum and retrieve the file, so I'll remove it, don't bother asking for it again......

Default JR PC Data Transfer

Hello. I just returned from a 300mile trip to Columbus, Ohio working on my daughter's renovation. Didn't take my laptop and did not receive a notification via email. Thank you for trying.

Although, I must say I do not understand nor do I appreciate the negative attitude. Had I received a notification I could not retrieve the file anyway.

So, upon my return tonight, I checked the forum, saw your post, downloaded the file and my computer cannot rename the extension. It sees the file as a compressed zip file and will only try to unzip it...unsuccessfully, claiming it cannot open the folder...the file is invalid.

To' bob_nj' question [Who exactly are you asking?]:

My apologies...I just now saw your question (I'm not too good at this forum stuff).
I am asking anyone that has knowledge/a working solution to my problem. Thanks for asking.
