Hi, new here...

I just recently purchased a DuraTrax IntelliPeak ICE DC Competition Charger and I'm contemplating returning it in favor of a Team Checkpoint TC-1030 Racing Charger. The reason for this is it is basically the same charger with all the things the IntelliPeak ICE should of had. So far I'm only a nitro hobbist with a HPI Savage21 with Rx NiMH 6v hump pack, Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec 3.3 with Rx NiMh 6v hump pack, 2 1500mAh 7.2v NiCd batteries for the Roto-Start and Ez-Start, and the Futaba 700mAh Transmitter NiCd for my Futaba 3PKS (Just bought a 11.1V 2650mAh Tx 3S pack Futaba/Hitec online today). Do you think it is worth the extra cost for only 6 batteries? I do plan on getting a Heli-Max AXE CP-L Micro EP RTF Helicopter (or some other heli) and possibly an electric or nitro buggy/truggy in the next 12-24 months. Another drawback would be the $20 off $149+ orders ended so I would lose that off my return and would add an extra $20 difference in price. Is the IntelliPeak ICE more then capable of handling my current charging needs? It is being powered by a Competition Electronics 13.8v/23Amp DC power supply.

The only real advantage I see in the TC 1030 is the 10 amp current limit (with max power still being the same) In my opinion is not worth the extra money. You probably will never exceed the 8 amp limit of the ice.

Team Checkpoint also has backlight and supposed 20A discharge capability...though there have been many reported instances of people smoking their chargers discharging at the higher rates.

Personally I don't think it is worth it. I would rather spend the money on either a good balancer for later when/if you go LiPo, or even on a secondary charger that doesn't have all the bells and whistles so you can charge more than one battery at once.

I bought a Great Planes ElectriFly Equinox balancer and I have 2 other NiCd/NiMH chargers (Tower Hobbies cheapy timer charger/discharger and a Dynomite timer one). I'm just going to keep the Intellipro ICE. I bought a LiPo battery for my Futaba 3PKS so I picked up the Equinox.
