Has anyone experienced the wing flexing(twisting) with the application of aileron at medium/high speed?

If I pick up some speed coming downwind and introduce some aileron, I get no response at all(Hitec 5645's) even with the stick pushed all the way over. I can see that the wing appears to be twisting under the pressures. Throttle back and I regain the control I was looking for. On the ground, there is the ability to twist at the tip and see it. Nothing is broken, it's just a long wing with little support.

Other than that, the plane flies like a 4* should.

I built my 4star 4 years ago and the wings are rock solid. Are all glue joints solid. I would take off the wing covering & give a good look and fix what needs to be fixed to stop the flexing, as it won't correct itself, and you don't want to crash such a nice flying bird. I only live 45 min from you and would be glad to take a look see if you wanted. PM me if you wish, or a email would be better. Tomy@inwave.com

Our local hobby shop owner has one covered with 21st Century fabric & it scares you to fly it . the wing flexes terrible . He called SIG on it & they said NOT to use that type covering . I tried to get him to put a couple of coats of clear dope on it but it is still hanging in his shop unfixed. Mono-Cote ones are OK. Good luck , MAX H.

Funny you should mention the fabric. This is covered in the same and painted yellow.

Taildragger~Where do you fly at? I fly over at Malta, IL. Not sure if my friend wants to go to that much trouble to tear the covering off. It's easier to just keep the speed down and fly, fly, fly.

I wanted to see how tough my wing was on my 4 Star 60 I use epoxy on the spars and Elmers on everything else..covered in Monokote, built per plans.....took her high and power dived her straight down...without pulling the power off yanked the elevator up...well.....I could see the wings flex but they held....I never did it again....If I can do that, you have a problem warping the wing with just ailerons

The 4 Star 60 wing is built a lot different than the 40 & the 120 , has more bracing in it . All you need to do with your 120 wing is give it a couple of coats of dope & give it a try ,that should make it less flexable . MAX H.
