A Buddy and I went to check out RACE NIGHT at one of the Local Tracks in My area, (So Cal)....
My friend took his 8 year old Nephew (kid already has a 1/18 Associated truck) to see the Electric Buggy n Truggy races, because his parents have promised him a Vehicle for Racing. Kid wants Nitro,,,LOL.... Everyone says NOOOOO! Lol.

I found the Electric races kind of Cool.......1/10 cars/trucks were Actually pretty fast (the Modifieds anyways).
Now im thinkin I might Like an Electric Buggy. Low Maintenance, no Smelly Nitro, no Costly repairs. How can that be Bad?

Of course , NO Way am I thinkin about giving up Nitro ( ), but I saw , Tonight , that Electric can be fun too.....

Ok red, all i can say is that electric is JUNK lol. Just remember that there isnt any break bias with the electrics. If your going to race i think you will like the nitro 1/8 class the best. Just given my .02

Harryball......
Yeah you are right that I'll like the nitro 1/8 best......
They are way more Sturdy, and I am already Aimed in that direction with my Monsoon. Plus, I LIKE the Noise .

However, not everyone can afford the to race 1/8 nitro. Lets add up the $$$ ive spent.(Ball park)

$300 for the Monsoon
$159 for the Spektrum radio ( I havent seen ANYONE with a stock radio in the 1/8 class....Lol)
$100 for a couple Decent (not GREAT) servos
$80 for four decent Tires/foams/rims (prob need min Two sets realistically)
$25 for a good receiver battery
$30 for a Cheeseball QuickCharger for the Humppack, and the Radio batteries..
Thats Easily over $700 with Tax n Gas....and the Monsoon is a CHEAP truggy...Lol

$300 for 1/10 RTR 2wheel drive Electric buggy (Associated, Hotbodies, Kyosho)
$50 for a Battery
$50 for a Semi decent Charger.
Thats $400 and you are ready to go in the Novice Stock class. (They sure LOOKED like they were havin fun......)

I work in the Electronics industry (Aircraft electronics), so Trust me when I say that they will improve the Driveability (brakes too) of electric RC, and that they are going to hit the 1/8 class HARD in the next year or two...

Personally, the Nitro class is more exciting for ME, but I was Surprised to find out How Popular the Electrics are in my Area....
I think they are here to stay, and Nitro is gonna be Sharing the Stage, from now on....

I dont think thats a Bad thing either. Its All Good, as long as we are havin FUN!

MONSOON, get the RXT-1 much better for racing. The monsoon is to heavy and a good 10mph slower than the rest of the competition. On the electric side, they really need to come out with some mechanical breaks. Useing the motor at all wont give the bias needed for cornering, but hey, I just gave you an idea for a mod.

Ok Red,

I see your point. It can be a bit of a task to set one up. I love my ST-1. Set up wasnt that bad for the track. Competition level is quit high. If you need some help with setup steering, brake bias etc. Let me know. Ill be more than happy to share.

Yea me too, goin out tommorow for the first track time of the season. With your monsoon make sure that your break bias is set correct, a little heavy towards the rear, this will help with the corners.
