Joel, I would sure be interested in some pictures of the front etc when you get the Saito fitted in. I am hedging between electric and a Saito 120. The electric is an easy fit while the Saito is going to require some re-engineering and delicate modifications.

No worries.

I expect it would have been easier to do before assembly; since the firewall is already firmly attached it will be a dremel job. Will post pics once I get back into the plane.

All the best,

Joel

Sorry Turtletoes2, the Norseman has been on hold for some time now. It is a beautiful looking plane and I'd recommend the cut kit as there is a lot of detail in the formers, ribs, etc. Family and work commitments have prevailed over building.

Joel,

I know how it is to start and put a plane on hold. I plan to get more stick time this year and just cut for others. Time to get the trainer out again!

Yours was the first kit I cut and several have been cut since then. There is a build going on at my forum that could use your help and support.

Good to hear you are still in the hobby!

I have been following the build thread and have looked in to buying the parts, but I would like to know if there is a source for the cowl and windshields?

Regards,

Dave

I bought a vacuum formed cowl from Vintage RC. It is OK, a fiberglass one would be nicer but I don't know where you'd get one. I was just going to make the windshield.

Greg's cut kit is the way to go, it will make life a lot easier and he gives great support too.

Good luck,

Joel

Sorry, I don't have instructions for it. Not sure where the plan was originally published - likely an older American magazine - maybe others would know.

I believe Greg showed the fuselage construction technique above and I have a few photos he sent me some time ago of the forward fuselage assembly - Greg, if you're happy for me to I'll dig them out and post them.

I had a look at Greg's forum and there are a few people building over there. I'm sure others around here will help you get it built if you run into trouble.

All the best,

Joel

Post your questions here and/or the CAMForum. At CAM we are in the process of pulling together builders to keep the hobby going and provide a resource over time.
