I have been looking for a premade model of the Bf 109 E for a long time to no avail. I have also looked for a decent fuselage loft view of this plane but also to no avail (at least not free). However I did stumble upon a set of cross sections that, even though limited, was enough for me to work with. I have wanted to model this one for a long time. I am not sure of what scale I will do but .90-1.2 or gasser size is around the size I want (although it might be nice to have something smaller that fits in my Grand Cherokee). This is my favorite foreign warbird, and very few ARFs or kits of it exist that I know of (VQ models, kyosho, and KMP).

For those of you who would like to scratchbuild a Bf 109 or just play with a CAD model, I have created a 3D model in Solidworks and IGES formats of the Bf 109E minus the horizontal stabilizer and canopy. The model is of the fullsize plane, so if you want a different scale, you can scale the solid model down with your favorite modeler (SolidWorks, Pro-E, Catia, etc...). I will warn the user, the model is fairly cheap although I did not intend for it to be that way. The cross sections I found were very limited, especially in the center section where the cockpit is and the empennage, so I had to resort to some cheap tricks to get that modeled as accurately as I possibly could. However, it is in my eyes good enough to extract a decent set of fuselage cross sections for ply fuselage formers (or whatever you make your formers out of). I just wanted to share this with those of you who like to scratch build/design with CAD too. Attached is a screenshot of the model. If you would like the solid model in Solidworks or IGES format, let me know. It won't let me attach the DXF of the cross sections I found, the IGES file, or the solidworks file. If someone knows how to do that, please let me know.

You did not look too hard then. For Brian Taylor did the -E and the -F models several years ago.
