I'm quite sure the Perfect Switch Harness is lighter than any regulator plus separate switch harness and it provides fail safe operation. A must in a single switch plane like most pattern planes.

Me and several of the guys I fly with are switching to the Duralite DigiSwitch. It is a switch with built-in 5.5V regulator and voltage monitor. It can be set up to monitor a 2-cell lithium or 5-cell NiCd battery. According to the manual the weight is 15 grams (15 grams = 0.529109429 ounces).

Part of the design philosophy of the Perfect Switch Harness was to keep all of the important stuff in a friendly environment. That is, no grime and dirt and no vibration. The most vulnerable part of the assembly, besides the switch, is the wiring to the switch. With the Perfect switch Harness a wire to the switch could break off or the switch could fall apart and you'd keep flying. I velcro the regulator to my receiver so it sees the same vibration free environment as the receiver. Of course this isn't as big a concern with electrics.
