Guys, looking to replace the rather badly made wing and stab cf tubes on my Integral, and wondered if anyone has had experiences of good retro-fix tubes.

Unfortunately I'm in the UK, and the tubes are not metric, so a US supplier is more likely to be a help. From measurements the wing tube is 1 3/16 and the stab tube is 15/32.

Any help appreciated.

marc.

I bught this one from PBG http://www.pbgcomposites.com/products/carbon_tubes/CarbonTubes.htm :
NEW !!! - F3A Lightwall 30mm PBG36TS 30mm x 600mm - Tube & Socket 0.75mm 87g
The tube only is 62g. It's actually a little bit too thin, but that was fixed with a couple of coats of paint.

What is the actual problem with them? I am well into a build on one myself, and they seem OK. Same as my Impact and that has well over 100 flights now with no issue.

The tubes ARE a little loose though, and I will tighten them up.

Cheers, JB

Hi,

The tube Ola metioned is good ...
I am using the same too, with a couple of rounds of thin tape to make a snug fit.

The original tube; at least mine, was out of roundness, make it hard to fit without slop ...

Marc,

The larger of the tubes you describe is actually 30 mm, as Ola pointed out (Hi Ola!). I have 8 of the PBG36T in stock if you are interested. The smaller tube is likely a slightly under size 12 mm tube. CST Sales (http://cstsales.com) has the following which appears to be 12 mm OD:

Carbon Micro Rods
Hollow: OD 0.472"
4 ft. length, ID 0.356", weight 94.1 grams. T526-4 $22.45

CST is only about 40 miles from me, if you wanted both tubes you could have Gail at CST send me the 12mm tube and I'd gladly include it in the shipment at no extra charge (or have her call me, she may be able to drop it off here as well). The only thing is I'd have to cut it in half to ship it but since you're going to make stab tubes out of it that shouldn't be a big deal.

Unfortunately the main tube varies from 30.34 to 29.98mm, and where they have ground down the joint there are large pin holes indicating the overall construction is not that good. I would rather use a tube which is manufactured in one piece personally.

The stab tube i will use as this is actually an OK fit, and is made in one piece with no unsightly grinding having taken place!

Cheers for the help guys, I'm investigating some UK outlet for ease of shipment etc, but will keep you informed if I need to ask a big favour

The main wing sleeve measures 30.3cm diameter, so not sure what tube dimensions C-ARF are working to, they seem to be neither metric nor imperial!

Marc.
