I'm only 13 but pretty good when it comes to rebuilding things and electronics. I have decided to buy a 1:18 RTR truck. I would like to buy either a rc18mt or a mini LST2 or a M.M.B. It's going to be used for bashing in and outdoors. On road and gravel too. I know that rc18mt is in a totally different class compared to the Mini LST2 and the M.M.B., but i would like your opinion on each truck. I do have a Losi charger that really good. I would also like to know which is easier to maintain. I will be putting in about $50 into the truck. I have read many threads but they all have different answers or opinions. Just to let you know my dad has a crazy old Team Associated RC10T2, which we use for bashing and it works fine. so I won't do too much extreme bashing. If you have any other suggestions please tell me. Thanks: Ryan

THE RC18MT IS BASED ON THE RC18T AND IS MORE OF A RACER THAT TAKES A LOT OF MAINTENANCE. THE MLST2 AND MMB ARE ABOUT THE SAME THING AND ARE DECENT BASHERS BUT CAN BE SOME TROUBLE AS THEY AREN'T UNBREAKABLE AND NEED AN EXPERIENCED HAND TO KEEP THEM RUNNING WELL BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LOT OF MOVING PARTS AND JUST LIKE THE RC18MT THEIR RUNNING GEAR IS EXPOSED. I WOULD SUGGEST A DURATRAX VENDETTA ST. I HAVE ONE I RACE AND ONE I BASH AND THEY ARE HIGHLY BASHABLE AND EASY TO KEEP CLEAN. ANY EXTRAS YOU MIGHT WANT CAN BE GOTTEN FROM DURATRAX.

The 18MT is the best one hands down if ur on a budget. The Mini LST 2 is plagued with problems and is slower and has three diffrentials meaning it sucks offroad. It is also heavy because it has alot of steel parts so that when it hits the ground it hits with alot of impact and bottoms out and usually breaks more parts. As with the 18MT it has more plastic parts making it flexible and it takes impacts better, and it is as durable as a rock. It is faster And has 2 diffrentials, so even though the ground clearance is less than the MLST2 it is still better offroad. The only reason the MLST 2 compares is because people with alot of money buy them and completly aluminize them so there indestructible. If your going to run them stock the 18MT is way better................ I have also been debating this MLST2 vs 18MT for awhile and i am trying to save you some time and trouble. So i ordered my 18MT and it is on the way
I have talked with many people that have both and they all prefer the RC18MT over the MLST2...

well i have a mlst, and it's great after i got mlst2 diff's and new rims. I only broke a rim after i cartwheeled after a 4 and a half/ 5 feet high jump on concrete. But i jump it regularly 3-4 feet, and it lands any which way, and doesn't break. I'f you want it to go faster, i'd get some viscous diffs, but some people are lucky and are running brushles with the stock diffs. I love it.

I have both a MLST2 and a RC18t. As far as which to get it all depends on your needs. You said it would be use for bashing indorrs and out road and gravel. Whats left? you prettty much covered the field. The MLSt2 does have its problems but inthe end its a great truck....heavy...beefy...solid. Its got great ground clearence for outdoors it tends to flip ALOT on anything other than gravel or dirt. Anything else rolls it over when you try and turn at any real speed.

The rc18 series is a much lower truck it doesnt roll over as much but offroading is tricky. If you have a clean track your ok but med length grass stops it butt cold. Mine is brushless as compared to the MLST2 being stock motors. So its a little land rocket. I run it at a local parking lot and it just rips. I wouldnt want too much more speed from the MLST@ though (although a little would be nice )

So IMO for offroad stuff and the like I would go for the MLST2 but for indoors, asphalt or speed I would get an RC18
My rc18t is my favorite though I think it has more capabilities. IE if you want more clearence get the MT tires if you wanna go all street get the few parts to make it an rc18r.

Aftermarket support for both is excellent with a slight edge going to the RC18 I think

hope something in all that helps

hi all, i have a minilst with mlst2 metal diffs, mamba brushless 5400 system installed, mini t dd slipper clutch, minit ball diff, 2 gpm green vacuum rims, spare aarms and everyhting included stock plus 2 spare dogbones. the left steering servo is burned out so it is only running on one servo. how much do you think i could get for this? im really thinking about trading it in for a rc18mt

I know that the MLST2 is better for bashing but we have a RC10T2 and we use it for bashing and it works perfect so its nothing extreme for bashing

i have an 18MT > 18T (change of ties, dirt hawgz grip awesome) and its a fun truck with a few drawbacks
needs a total of 3 shims/diff (comes with 2, hope they make it 3)
shocks have a CHRONIC leaking problem (im not jk, you fill it, you turn around, 1/4 of the oil is everywhere but the shock)
needs a gear cover REALLY BAD (no gearcover + dusty rocky... = rocks in your spur, doesn't make it last that long)
steering is prety sloppy (servo saver and stupid assembly)
needs turnbuckles (IMO)
ok, just given my point of the story, its a nice car all in all, but it has a few flaws like what i pointed out, so you make up your mind, with a gear cover, draglink and an o-ring over the servo saver) its a really nice truck, all trucks have their ups and downs though, gota take that into consideration

the mlst is a bad machine, its takin everything ive givin it. ive actually tried to break something and still cant, people have said the servo's go bad and the diffs, but i havent had a problem with either. besides i got the truck with a bad servo, im running a single stock servo and have been since i got the truck, waiting for it to go bad too, lol.. but its hung in there, also the diffs are the same as what came with it, and still look brand new. i personally think for the size and weight of the truck this thing gets up and goes pretty quick. www.amainhobbies.com has their mlst's on sale right now for 99.99 i would grab one at that low of a price rtr.

I would get a Vendetta ST or RC18__. The Mini-LST has horrible steering out of the box and it cost $90 + a 1/10 servo to fix it. The RC18T only needs a DP Gear Cover and Drag Link. The Detta ST needs nothing out of the box to be bash ready. I had a Mini-LST and it would break all the time and that was with just 4-6 foot jumps. My Detta went months of 10+ foot jumps till I broke an upper arm.

I have about $600 in upgrades on my MLST2 and it still isn't running right. Fried diff gears, fried servos, broken axles, broken a-arms - it is plagued with problems. I haven't been able to run thru 2 complete battery packs without having to do some kind of repair.

I've owned it for about 4 months and have only run less than 10 battery packs on it. That's because the rest of the time has been downtime waiting for a repair.

I have about $100 in upgrades on my RC18B and so far it hasn't broken yet. I have had the RC18B for about 2 months and have run about 25-30 packs on it. It never breaks. It is always ready for another run. No waiting for a repair with the RC18.
