Hello all, I'm, new at this electric side of things. I have a few questions about my plane and set up. First of all I have a 4S 3700mah lipo and the charger set up I purchased from ejf. I'm currently charging my battery at 1.0A. and my voltage is showing 15.48V. is this the right current setting for charging? When should it shut off? I flew my plane today and it flew great until I went to land and I was about 20 feet up coming in to land. I shut off the power and it wanted to balloon up, by the time I hit the power I stalled and had a very rough landing. Do I have to land this jet under power? It was flying like it was tail heavy when I shut off the power?

Hi,
You will want to charge your battery at 3.2Amps which is 1C. Typical charge time should be around an hour as long as you do not over discharge your battery. Which charger are you using? The better chargers will actually shutdown when the battery is fully charged. In addition you should try and use a balancing charger or get a balancer to keep the cells balanced.

As for the plane propping up on cutting power maybe you are tail heavy..did you check your CG before you flew.. This plane doesn't need to have a powered landing but you have to be careful when cutting power especially in a turn as ducted fan planes will stall on you. Fixing your CG should remedy the problem you had.

I have the balancing charger that ejf sells. I believe it comes from Het. What is the typical voltage that the charger should shut off at on a 4S. It was still charging at 15.78V. How many mahs will it take to recharge the battery usually. I wil try moving my battery forward. I bought this plane used. I really don't know where the CG is located on the f-18. Thanks for the help.

Ya it seems like you're tail heavy. Check your CG again and balance it out and it should be fine.

A fully charged 4S lipo will be 16.8 volts.

I suggest you read some basic battery threads and figure out what your doing before you burn down your house or your plane.

The C/G is located 2 3/4" back from the tip of the leading edge of the wing, along the side of the fuse.
The tow hook hole is located 5 6/8" from the seam where the nose cone comes in contact with the fuse. If you feel around on the bottom of the fuse, you'll find pre-drilled holes at this location.

Copied from the manual...
