Help!! My batteries are not in balance. I use my batteries for about 5 minutes until they are just above the low voltage cutoff. I wanted to check my balance of my batteries. One of them was 7.4 and the other was 3.89 I balanced them out useing eat2muchrice's tutorial. Once I balanced them both out to 3.89, I plugged them into my stock e-flite charger. When they were done charging, they were 7.4 and 3.89 after flying AGAIN!! Ive tried this with both of my batteries. Is my charger bad?

You need to recheck which wires you're checking your voltage for. 7.4 sounds like the total voltage and 3.89 is one of the cell's voltage. Double check to make sure you're checking the correct cell voltage.

NO! you tested the wrong wires. Crusader is right, recheck your wires.
There are three wires that go into the charger plug. What you should get is three different readings with your voltameter.
red=left, blue=mid, black=right
To check each cell
Cell 1 red+blue=4.2v
Cell 2 blue+black=4.2v
Note: red+black = The total amount of voltage in both cells 8.4v.
Here is the link again. Look very closely at the pictures.

Good luck.

At 7.4V total and the first cell only reading 3.89V that leaves the second cell with a voltage of 3.51V. That is NOT in balance and is off by a larger margin than what most consider to be a balanced set of cells. Readings for both fresh off the charger should be closer to the 4.2V per cell and not at 3.8V and 3.5V.
Please check them as soon as you finish charging them and let us know the readings of both cells and total voltage. I am hoping you will be showing a 4.2V per cell and a 8.4V for the total of the pack. eat2muchs tutorial is spot on and should help you determine if the charger is the culprit or just the way your heli draws from the cells. Five minutes is at the low end of flight times for the stock lipos and could be a warning sign of something else happening in your heli. (motors, servos, ect) I only get 5 minutes out of mine but I am also running LED's on my CX2, without them I get the full 8 - 10 minutes of flight.

That will hurt your flying time by alot. On a full charge they should read at 4.2v each.

wow this charger is wierd, Oh well, I'm getting a TP1010C with a TP-205V from a friend for 50 bucks.... Yeah, the flight times suck, I wish I had better flight times. I currently have a HeliMax charger and am wondering if I can just balance the li-pos and charge them from the JST connectors...
