I'm going to order a new Hbird in the next 2 weeks and would like to know if anyone has used a gruapner speed 300 7.2 volt on it and what pinion they use, I know about the GWS motor but I'm partial to gruapners since I have one and it runs really good. I plan on using 2 cirrus 6.2 gram micro sevos a cirrus MRX4 receiver the TX will be the Airtronics RD6000 Super I just orderd so it will be posible to go seprates but as a newbie I don't know if that will be the way I should go. I've been gleanning all the info I can from the posts so I can get it right the first time hopefully. As far as the Gyro I find conflicting info on HH Gyros some say they work with the Hboard mixer others say they don't. also if I go with the speed 300 will I have to up the tail motor, I've seen various sugestions on that also, So asking all Heli-Flyers for a leg up on this as it will be my first so I'd like to at least get the hardware right. I'll be sticking with the stock battery packs for now

I am using a Graupner Speed 300 6V motor (#3306) with a 9-tooth Piccolo plastic pinion. I am still using a stock tail motor and the setup is working great. I flew it with the mixer for a while although I am using separates now.

I have tried a HH gyro and I went back to my GWS PG-03. The HH Gyro (CSM HLG200) worked fine (I don't know if it will work with the stock mixer board) it was almost too rock-solid for my tastes (this is my first heli too).

The stock battery pack is going to be a problem. It barely had enough to get the stock heli out of ground effect. A 1200mah e-tech li-poly is a true delight. All the power you need and 20+ minutes of flight time.

Hope that helps!

Thanx kenru, I've also got a partner at work who wants one but he's going with the basic 4ch TX so seprates won't work for him. That's why I wanted to know about the HH Gyro and the mixer cause if it dose work the he'll also get one but I guess not. So a 9th will work with the stock tail and the Gruapner speed 300 that's great, I've seen so many posts about the stock main heating problem and short life I was wondering was I getting into the right Heli

Zflyer,
If you go with a HH gyro, you can use separates on the Hummingbird, even with a basic 4CH airplane transmitter. Thats what I am flying.

Now that sounds a bit tricky, I looked at Heli-Hobby tips and was even wondering how'd I do it on the RD6000 with only 3 revo mix points how do you do it on a non computer TX, The package my Partner is looking at has the Hitec Laser 4 with it

Of course he might change his mind after I get him to try the flight sim wich I've been after him about for 2 weeks now, While I use the sim every night for an hour or more ( much to the wife's displeasure) of course the HBird won't be as easy as the micro in Pre-Flight I imagine

Zflyer,
The Helihobby instructions assume you are using a rate gyro. With a Heading Hold gyro, you wire it like the Helihobby instructions, but ignore the part about setting up revo mix. A HH gyro doesn't need, and won't work with any transmitter mixing enabled. If you try flying it with revo mixing on, the heli will never stop spinning.

Are you practicing on PreFlight with a "time factor" of 1 or less? The "time factor" changes with the scenario, and the training scenario defaults to a "time factor" of 3, which means it runs 3 times slower than normal. You check and set the time factor with "Quick Edit" under the "Scene" menu. If you already knew this and are flying the MD500E MicroElectric at a time factor of 1 or less, you should have no trouble with the HB. The MD500E under PF flys a lot like the HB.

Jeff

Yes I'm using time factor 1, the first time I tried it for E-planes(cardinal sin things with wings) I didn't like it because it was to slow so I went to FMS but when I needed Heli's FMS wasn't realistic enough. I started planes back in december have 2 now but after seeing the HBird should have gotten one of them instead ( the better the Plane the more room at a premium around here) for the life of me I can't fly a 3D plane in the sims but I can Fly the Heli's all my Planes are 3ch R/E/T only

Sorry Jeff spaced on the important part so you "don't" use Revomix on a HH Gyro, So I could have gotten that advantage without the expense of the RD6000 not that I don't want it but I was thinking you needed that to go seperates period

Zflyer - the RD6000 super will look after your needs for ages. You made the right choice. I guarantee you will want to start fiddling after a while. Perhaps a CP picolo etc etc.

LOL!!!! Don't send her back, you may have to porn the radio to pay her debts to Tony Sopprano!

Seriously, Invest now in the TX it is well worth it. Prob the wisest RC investment you make.

I know I made the mistake of only getting a 3ch to start with now I've got to get the better Radio but after looking at them I really liked the RD6000 even though my first radio was a Hitec
