Hello Everyone

I'm new on the jets, and need help on these 2 questions for my skymaster F16 (1-9) with a jet cat P60 on the tail.
1 - To increase the time flight, I need to instal the 3 fuel tank on the bypass area (on top of both fuel tanks). Can you inform the brand an ref. for the best fuel tank?
2 - I heard some imputs about gyros. For this model who is the best gyro. Some times during the landing with cross wind, the wings of the plane are not stable.
Its correct to instal a gyro on the ailerons?

Regards
Helder

1. With a P-60 the 2 saddle tanks are plenty of fuel. You will get close to 10 minute flights just with the stock tanks.
2. Gyro's are for the steering. never heard of someone putting one on ailerons.

Hi,Helder:
In our RC club, many experience about the Skymater 1/8 F-16 can share with you.It is very stable and most time needn't Gyro. However,if you use it,the F-16 can fly more gentle.(I use one two-axial GYA352 gyro because I use tailron to control it,the alieron was fixed) The recommended C.G position on the web site of Skymater is too foreward,it will result the F-16 too nose-heavy and a little"spin" sensation when you turn.We adjust the C.G to about 14-15cm backward of joint of leading edge of wing, this "spin"condition will imporve. The steering don't need Gyro,it is very stable.
The 3rd fuel tank is recommended by Skymaster web site to reduce the bubble aspiration by pump. Most bubbles formed in the
main saddle fuel tanks will remain in the 3rd fuel tank, little will captured by UAT.Therefore, one small 3rd fuel tank is enough.(about 200 to 300 cc)
The F-16 is very suitable to beginner of jet and I hope you can enjoy it!

Hello Helder,

Ask mikedenilin here on RCU, he has a specially made conformal tank for the F16, I have a standard flat Sullivan 16oz on mine http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFT72&P=SM

the best airplane gyro seems to be from ACT, http://www.acteurope.de/html/fuzzypro_smm.html.

Cheers
Florent

CPS, thanks for your reply.

Nice photos. In fact i have already the UAT, and I will add one more on the top of both fuel tanks (5 or 6 minutes is not enought for fun).
My F16 CG is 145mm and flies very well.
Just a photo of my F16. Is not the best but i will post more soon.

regards
Helder

Hi Helder,

A gyro will greatly improve airborne stability, spaecially in windy conditions.

You can try both the Futaba GY351 or the ACT Fuzzy Pro. Other brands are possible as long as thet have dual inputs for 2 servos and no Hold mode is necessary or wanted in ailerons.

Your Tiger is realy a ****cat

I just bought a skymaster f16 and plan on using the fuzzy pro smm to assist in take offs and landings.
I'm hoping to get nice landing characteristics with this setup.
I've been trying to find some videos of any jets using the fuzzy gyro assist for landings but haven't had any luck.
I'd love to see a landing that looks nice and gentle with the nose wheel taking its time touching down.
I really think that fuzzy gyro setup would help in achieving that.
I am a taileron flier and I hate thinking of loosing one of my taileron fins during flight (and it has happened)
I think that having the fuzzy smm controlled ailerons would be a safety feature for taileron controlled planes.
Larry

Hi Larry

You either use the gyro on aileron axis or elevator axis. You can use gyros on both axis, only with 2 gyros. Both have to have dual plugs for servos.

I make this comment because of your 4th paragraph.

Fuzzy is nice. Sure will help you.

Sorry, but the videos I have there is no info regarding gyros.

I guess what I'm trying to achieve is trying to land the F16 using allot of "Aerobraking" The following showtread video shows a classical example of extreme areobraking at the end of the video www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8434253&highlight=aerobraking#post8434253
