A friend and I are in the process of building a pair of Great Planes Electrifly DC3s using the stock (brushed) 400 motors and ESC. The original kit was designed to work with 8cell NIMH packs but we are hoping to use some of our existing 11.4v 3S lipo batteries with it instead. Unfortunately GP doesn't give any technical specs on the included speed controller so we are wondering if the Lipos will cause any problems. I'm aware the LVC is going to be wrong, but there are ways around this (careful flight timing, aftermarket cellshield etc.). The biggest concern is burning out the ESC due to higher voltage. Also, would propping down a bit help?

Worst case we can just go brushless all around, but with two models each with two ESC and four motors that means lots of $$$!
