My 500L is starting to loose a bearing I think. Its starting to squeal that is for sure at sixty flights. I am having a hard time sorting out all of the NEU, Medusa, and others as to what will fit in the 500 and run with a Jazz ESC. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you have tried another motor in the 500 I would love to hear your experience. Thanks.

Please do your own research this is the direction I am going though.

Looks like

Scorpion 1900 w/13T for 5S

or

Scorpion 1600 w/13 or 14T for 6S (Me)

There is also 1400KV I guess bigger pinion more torque?

Thanks. I know a lot of pilots are running Scorpion. The Medusa looks like a similar option. I run 6s packs myself and like the 1400. Down in Southern Forida the motor gets pretty hot and I was thinking one of motors that had a fan may be better for long life like the NEU. At my limited skill level how fast it is or how quickly it climbs is not as big an issue to me as not eating bearings. I dont want to do much in the way of grinding to get a 600 motor in a 500 (yet), but I would like a plug and play of high quality. I really have a hard time compairing them as there are so many options.

Magic hook, you may want to consider a replacement motor under warranty, 60 flights on the 500 is not a lot of time. Depending where you bought the 500 heli you should be able to get a replacement motor, it is obvious that if the bearing is bad then it is a defect. If you like PM me, I will help if I can.

If you get a replacement under warranty you end up with the same Align bearings. Just get the bearings and replace them I do that with all my motors. My Scorpion motor bearings for my 450 lasted me 300+ flights but I eventually had to replace them.

P.S. If you did get it from us yes we can warranty it.

HeliSmith,

How much did you have to modify the frame to fit that 1600 Scorpion in the 500? I am not interested in changing the bearing because I think it will just happen again given the same enviroment. I am going over to your site right now and check out the Scorpion 1600.
