I just got my 7.7 today and cannot get it started no matter what I do. I am using O'Donnel 20% RTR fuel. I have checked and double checked and triple checked the glow plug. I've changed to a different glow plug. I even installed my Ofna primer pump to see if that would help.

I've now gone through 1/3 of a tank just trying to get it started and 4 of my fingers are missing skin.

This truck is BRAND NEW. What could possibly be the problem??

Try the idle set screw as i had real bother starting mine first time until i opened the idle,
If you set the carb about 1mm from fully closed it should cure the problem,

I also went through half a tank and a lot of blisters until i took a look at the idle set screw

hope you get it sorted let us know if this works

These pics should help

Fuel, spark, compression. Your fingers tell me you have compression ( wear a glove ). A 3rd of a tank tells me if you've never gotten started, you are flooding it. Does it even POP ? Check the base settings, pull the plug and clear the motor.

He needs to tune for the Checkvalve, he is flooding it right now!! Remove the Valve and break it in without the valve, then reinstall the valve then tune for it. Have not tested break-in with valve in place, but I'm sure it can be done, just need to lean the needles enough to get it started but rich enough to break it in well..

Hope this helps, but if you need more help I will be here..

Thanks for all the replies!

I took it to my friend who is an RC pro and WE GOT IT RUNNING!

We took the check valve off first, as Dogman suggested, but still couldn't get it running and it was still crazy rich. I checked the LSN and it was a full 2 turns out from flush so we leaned that out, then leaned out the HSN, gave it more idle, and a fully charged glow starter. After just a few turns she came to life!

It seemed to be set much too rich from the factory, and I think my glow starter was too weak.

I'm breaking it in now with the heat-cycle method. Unfortunately after getting it running I found my front brakes didn't work at all. I'm not sure if it fell off or if it was never put on but the front brake lever and spring were completely missing. I looked for any loose screws when I got it but its hard not to miss something.

Thanks again for the help, I can't wait to start tuning!

Sounds like you need mx203 and gs276- just to let you know some of our factory guys run rear brake only as it makes the truck turn better on the race track!

I had to crack my plug a little to get it to start at first, then tighten once the glow starter was off. I know I'm late, and it's running, but might help someone else.
