Since there should be no interference when using 2.4 GHz, is it necessary to have a formal frequency agreement in place when flying 2.4 in close proximity to an AMA field?

When recently reviewing the AMA rules I did not notice an exception spelled out for 2.4, but common sense seems like the rules around frequency sharing should really only apply to the tradisional frequencies.

I'd still recommend a formal "agreement" that states only spread spectrum is to be used at one site. This way, everyone knows where everyone stands - helps to minimize confusion.

That sounds like a good idea.

I would think that there's not much to "agree" to - you guys just send a letter to the existing club telling them where you're located, and that you'll be flying 100% spread spectrum. Of course, you'll need to follow up with some tangible actions: post signs at your flying site and write it into your club's rules.

I've often thought that new clubs with new flying sites should consider using a spread spectrum format only. That sure would simplify things at the flightline. I bet that it won't be too many more years before we see a number of existing clubs voting to go that route too.

Well it all depends. Are you starting up a new AMA club site within 3 miles of another site? If you are you need to get it cleared by the AMA before you do. But if you are just going to fly and your within 3 miles on 2.4, there is really no reason to ask anyone anything.

Since you are a PA resident, why don't you simply dial into www.amadistrictiii.org and allow the good Mr. B. Brown give you the absolute letter of the law definition?
