We had two Ultra STICK 25e models go in at our club filed last week. Both were trash barrel crashes. But a model is a terrible thing to waste so I took the back to the shop, expected to salvage some minor parts. The closer study showed they had some possibilites.

Test flew the resurected model this morning and its a keeper.

Good save Red.

Gotta love the 'never say die' attitude of some folks.
While most people will give up and bin the model, some take em home and start thinking 'Well, maybe if I stick this bit here................'
Next thing y'know your back flying the following weekend with the same 'bin job' flying like a gem.

But just in case I always build a trash bag into the fuse of my models, weighs nothing and might come in handy one day

Good job, Red, it's a plane worth saving. I have one and love its flying qualities. Mine flies on a 2820-10, Phoenix 45 and PQ3700 3cell batteries.

I have salvaged more planes from the trash bin then I care to even think about. I even sold one while I was putting it in my car and he knew I took it out of the trash can. I have taken parts off and used them to build another plane with and rebuilt the plane and flown it after getting it out of the trash. One thing I have learned over the years is - no matter how bad the crash is, something can be saved if you really want to. The only time I had a problem getting a plane out of the can was when I ask this one guy if I could have it and he took it out and broke it into a thousand bits and then said sure, you can have it. That was after he had thrown it in the trash can to begin with. I have scratch built wings for the fuse and tail, built a fuse for a set of wings and done just about everything in the last 55 years of flying. I see no reason to trash a plane unless you are just tired of looking at it. Something can be made out of a crashed plane even if it takes two or three of them to make one. I hate to see someone crash and will help put it together if I can and I REALLY hate crashes when they are mine, but I am also going to try my best to make something out of it. Why not? There is nothing stopping you from trying and I always learn something in the end. I'm glad to see that there is someone else out there that can take a crashed plane and do something with it. I'm really happy for you and you did a great job of it too. It looks just as good as a new plane and someone just decided to recover it. Great job.

And now I've added a cowling. Still have the second one about 80% restored. You just can't have too many STICKS. I note they offer floats for it. Anyone tried them?

The stick comes with a second set of landing gear for the floats that you will need to mount them. I haven't flown mine on floats yet, but a club member has and it flies almost as good as without them. The rolls look a little strange and it turns a little strange, but other then that, it flies just as good with them as without. If you are interested, go for it. It's a great flying plane. I don't have a place around here anymore to fly floats or I would, but then I don't have a private pond like some people do around here. I have a set of floats for mine that I am planning to use as soon as I can find someplace to fly it. Everyone I have talked to says it flies really good with them, but flies better with the 32 on floats. The 25 will fly it though.
