J-tec or Jett should have one that will work.

YS 61s were piped engines. They were designed to use headers which Macs sells, macspro.com. I had an application where I had to use a muffler. I found the OS 61 FSR muffler(I believe) was a near fit. These mufflers are available from Mecoa. PM me if you want more info.

Do not use a Performance Specialties UltraThrust. Dave, at PS, even says this muffler is not suitable.

So Airbus is this muffler stock ys or stock os. I havent had a chance to call jtec (actually forgot, wonder what time zone their in?). You Know I'm not even sure if ys makes a stock muffler? I wish my freind had used something a little less exotic. Thanks buddy for info. Tom

To my knowledge, YS made no mufflers for these engines. They were header/tuned pipe engines. However, they have an internal pump and that is the reason the UltraThrust(1/4 or 1/2 pipe, whatever they are)mufflers are not compatible. There is some back pressure issue with this muffler and the engine. I don't know what a Hangar 9 extreme plane is, so I don't know what engine it was designed to use. You could make a post in the classic pattern forum about this engine. I'm sure someone would be willing to swap you a really nice more modern muffled engine. The YS engines were very desireable in their day and these classic guys still like to use them when they come available. I have three variants of the YS 61. All are good running and reliable engines.

Thanks for info. Kit I am building for my friend is h9 extreme 540 3d. I'm not sure he realizes what kind of motor he has here, kit calls for 46. Also header and pipes are going to be expensive. We fly Thursdays, and I'm going to tell him to think about a different motor, again thanks for your help Tom

I have seen these engines with both Jtec and jett mufflers used. As long as the proper back pressure is maintained what type of exhaust does not matter for most sport flying, just that it functions well. High performance such as speed or pylon racing has a lot more issues you have to look at. The folks at J-tec list YS-61 as an engines their mufflers work on give them a call (Eastern time zone).
