It's in the books...10 Q25 pilots flew against 10 Club 40 pilots to claim bragging rights for the next year in Texas. We flew 5 Rounds of 5 heats - each heat of 4 planes, 2 Q25 vs. 2 Club 40. Amazingly NO MIDAIRS/CRASHES during the race...

After the dust settled the difference between the teams was ONE POINT! And if that's not enough, the contest was won in the LAST HEAT OF THE DAY! That's how evenly matched the Teams and the Planes were.

Thank you, Larry Garrett from Hotmac for hosting the race, Gene Hodges, Captain of the Q25 Team for assembling such a formidable force, and Randy Ritch (Ritch's Brew) for supplying the 15% fuel!

So...who won? Stay tuned for the Official Results and more comments/pictures from the participants.

Edit: Thanks to Gene Hodges who took the pics and to Chuck Esh for the link - here are 75 pics to enjoy. http://www.gamarc.org/photos/categories.php?cat_id=21

Hey Skully did it!! He was the LAST plane in the LAST heat of the day, and got ONE point!! Somebody said it'd be better if my pilot was "Alive" but that little dead guy did a great job for me!!

I'd like to thank all the pilots, and crew for a great day of racing and "Trash'en." HOTMAC for a great place and hosting us. Chuck Waller, for all you hard work, to CD the event. Fred French, for the tips that got me out front for my first ever heat win. Ken Hopkens, for everything you did today, holding, calling, starting. Tim Purcell, my caller/racing buddy, couldn't have done it without ya, THANK YOU!

P.S. Also thanks to Mr. Duda for having me on his team.

First off I would like to thank the Q25 guys from the North for a really
competitive race. Jerry B. you raced me hard and it was the best heat of the day
for me. And I would really like to thank and congratulate the Club 40 guys.
You guys were awesome and I’m just glad I could be a part of it. That was
some good old Texas racing there guys.

I couldn't agree more with everything that has been said here on RCU and in the emails; with one point separating both classes, a safe assumption can be made that the 2 types of planes and classes are equal; however, we had 3 DQ's, that one point difference could have escalated to a 10 point difference if we didn't have the DQ's, Ken Hopson was out even before we started, and we all know Ken usually makes into the A Mains of our regular races, myself, I was trying different props and didn't run as fast as I think I could have; I'm not discrediting the Q25 Planes or their great Pilots, but I think that this demonstrates how great the Club 40 Class is, its competive, we have a lot of fun, the planes are not expensive and what a better way to get into Pylon Racing than jumping into Club 40, and now with the new Pinched Nose Version, I can see the Race times decreasing more and more, and the competetion getting fierce, but still in the quest of having fun; looking forward to the next race.

Doug, the 'Canuck' Eh!

DQ's due to cuts usually means the racing was so tight that they folded under the pressure and cut out trying to stay with the pace!!

**Just kidding Doug, I enjoyed racing with you all out there!**
