I'd go with a Tamiya. The TT01 or tb02 is probably your best bet, as you can get it in the tt01d or tb02d(for drift)version.

Yokomo make great cars, but they are more expensive than Tamiya and I don't think that they are quite as widely supported for parts as Tamiya. Also Tamiya's kits are legendary for been fun and easy to build(unless you get an RTR). As far as durability goes, you definitely don't have to worry about it, they make some of the toughest vehicles out there.

Are you looking for a kit or RTR?(kits are more fun )

RTR is ready to run as you dont need to build it most of the time, careful sometimes you still have to buy the batteries and charger though.
Yeh you can strip down the RTR versions as sometimes they dont have metal bearings so you have to install them yourself.
I would recommend getting a kit that way you build it,add the hopups as you go along and when you need to strip it down you should know where it all goes together etc
If you getting a tamiya kit check to see it has the metal bearings as some kits only include the plastic bushings instead and when you start to upgrade the car you will NEED metal bearings also alloy propshaft upgrade on the TT/TB series.

Either of those cars youve picked will drift the TT/TB are great out of the box as there propshaft driven great for drifting, the TA-05 is belt but has alot more adjustments and is better at racing.

If money is no object then i would get a yoko D there built for drifting and you get all that yoko knowledge built into there cars

Also, one thing to know: there are three possible ways to support rotating shafts.
1.Plastic bearings(bushings)
2.metal bearings(bushings)
3.ball bearings
Ball bearings are preferred, as them greatly reduce friction. They not only help your car run more easily and smoothly, but they also reduce the wear on the shafts, so they last longer.

As for the RTR tamiyas i think they only do a xb tt-01 not sure on the tb,yoko defo will be kit but u wont need many tools m8 infact the tamiyas come with most stuff u prob just need a screw driver, paint(for shell) and thats about it they even include the grease lol
The tt or tb kit should take you a few hours to put together even as a novice tbh and the instructions are great with tams even the part pictures match the size of the parts incase you think your using the wrong part
I say if you get a tamiya build it over there and maybe spray the shell when you get home,id buy your hopups over there as its a lot cheaper etc
As for copies Tamiyas are tamiyas if it has tamiya and the tamiya sign (red/blue 2 stars) its original

Yeah, there aren't many tools that you'd need, probably large and small philips screw drivers, a flush cutter, and and a needle nose pliers.

I have to say yokomo is a unique company with very durable cars.
They are just as expensive as tamiya in some parts.
Like the 501x worlds edition costs just as much as the MBX-4.

In touring tamiya would probably be your best choice since they have a variety of vechicles to match your budget.

I have a yokomo touring car that yokomo made in 1999, the yr4-M2.
I bought it from a nice guy on tamiya club a few months ago.

If you want a RTR, then the Tb02 is out. They don't make a RTR drift version of the TB02.

Well, for the tt01 an aluminum driveshaft would be good for it.
