and if so, how did you fix it?

I was at a full scale Monster Truck show with my RC club doing a demo (awesome fun in front of 7000 people), and my LST2 seemed as though the slipper clutch was slipping too much. Once the truck was warm, it had no problem, but intitially it would just rev, then as the revs came down, it would gain drive. I have replace the standard thrust bearing with a metal bearing, and the nut is about half a turn out from tight. Do my slipper plates need some type of maintenance? I haven't been able to strip the 2 speed since, as I left home on a work trip for the week, and am posting this from my hotel room.

Thanks guys

This has been happening to me too.. It'll just sit there and rev, then suddenly start working normally again.. Hasn't been a real problem yet.. Has happened maybe 3-4 times - and not necessarily every time out..

Actually it sounds like a OWB problem. Your problem sounds exactly like my LST2 when it was new and started doing that. I put a brand new slipper on it and it turned out to be a slipping OWB. Give your OWB a good soakinbg with WD-40 or actual bearing oil.

Sounds like the forward reverse servo needs adjusting to fully engage the gears

Clean the OWB in the 2 Speed (It could be Slipping), more info here

And Adjust the EPA for the reverse Servo......(It could be letting it slip inbetween Gears)

Turn the Radio on, then press the Scroll button till you See EPA Then Press channel till you see AUX then turn it up (Increase) the EPA till the Servos moving far enough to Hold it in Gear.....

Almost gauranteed one way bearing. I've been through 3 in 2 years. One new one fresh from the package started slipping after 4 tanks. Cleaning and oiling helps, but in my experience, once it starts, it is time for a new one.

When I lived in Adelaide we also did a DEMO and the fans LOVED IT! Nobody wanted to hit the ramps until I started launching my LST2 off the down ramp, fans went nuts. Show was at the entertainment center off goodwood.

Yeah the crowd loved it, generated lots of interest in the club, sold heaps of raffle tickets, all went well. I know where your talking about, I'm from Adelaide originally. May move back there one day. Hard to leave paradise though (Cairns Qld)
