whats up guys. ive been thinking about getting a crawler lately. but i cant decide if i want to get a scorpion rtr or a wheely king to build. i dont know much about building them so i was thinking the scorpion would be better for me to get started in crawling. let me know what you guys think. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Go with the AX10, it is a more capable crawler out of the box then the Wheely King............................

I think scorpion. This is after doing up a WK to be similar to a scorpion. An rtr scorpion looks like a good deal.

What's your budget? You could get the Novak Goat system which runs around 200 bucks. Or go with a standard brushed system like a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC and their 55T motor for around $100 or so...

Or go with a Castle Mamba Max or Sidewinder speed control and then you can run brushed or brushless.

imo the wheely king was a fun build because it was custom. it was fun to do things myself.

Why not the new losi crawler.
it should be coming out next friday and then it should be out in a month or 2 if you can wait.

I have used TLT, WK and Axial axles for comp rigs. The axial axles and tranny are by far the best (so far) IMO. As for speedo you can't beat the price and versatility of the sidewinder. Yes there are other good speedos out there as well.

I think you should at least wait and have a look at the Losi crawler coming out. I am buying a crawler in the very near future also. I will go with the Axial AX10 if the only other one I am choosing between is the wheely king. I think you get more crawling bang for the buck with the AX10. But I am at least gonna have a look at the Losi coming out and compare features VS price with the AX10. With a brand like Losi you probably cant go wrong, but, the price value could be a little unpredictable at this point. Unless the Losi has something that just blows me away I am buying the AX10. I have considered the wheely king but it require a lot of mods and hop ups to be able to compete with the stock AX10 (in my opinion). And, I will be buying the kit version as I enjoy the build process just as much as driving.

thanks, i am very happy with it. i know its not the best out of the box but i am having fun building it in steps. right now i am putting the masher 2k's from my stampede on and making the axle mounted servo mount.
