I was wondering about that myself. Some people sware by it, others don't. I'm getting ready to assembley my elavator and would like to see what others think. I was looking at where the guides for the cables are and it look a little off to me. It looks like it will be pulling at a steep angle and not stright on like i thought.  I'm also looking at how the rod fits to the elavator and gets mounted. Do you need to cut out some of the elovator to fit the rod in so you have less gap between the two sections?

This is my first ARF and I'm glad I met some real good friends to help. One I meet right here and found out he lives 20mins away. He helped me with my flaps and we did it the way thay show in the Distructions.

Johnny. What part scares you? I'm using pull-pull on rudder and elevator. I got some 1/32 kevlar thread from McMaster. I've used this before and it works fine.BTW on the flaps-you do need a strong servo, but with the carbon rod , when they go down they are SOLIDno chance of blowback!Larry

Good Evening
Yes I have also used the pull pull but with a change. I used the golden rod 506 as a pull pull. Works well. Use the threaded ball links 2-56 for security I have also used the Brass braided wire from sullivan the large size on on the flaps. I would guess not as stiff as Larry's set up buts woks well. Also the hinge points on the flaps are the way to go as shown in the above photo's. I'm running the OS 200 which has good power for the model. The landing gear, well not bad but not the best. Take extra time in setting it up.
When you guys get done with this model and move on to the F7F I have some changes for that model, as well as the PC-21.  Larry missed you today at the fly in

Don, I was there Saturday. Got one really nice flight in, but got into a PIO on landing and took out the nose gear so I didn't come back Sunday. What a nice field. We had 64 pilots registered!
I'm starting in on the landing gear now. Any tips!

Sorry to get back to you so late. Work has me at NAS JAX Florida.
What I ended up doing was to take a nylon washer and place it on the strut side of the wheel. Use all the hardwear that came with the model. A little white grease on the axel and tighten just so. Now the tricky part. Adjust the strut so that ,All the slop, will still give you a little toe in. The gear doors don't fit at all and I didn't use them. I plan on makeing a new set from g-10 material.

Yes, it is the KMP Corsair.
BTW Don. I discovered on my LG that the slop  was caused by the axle and wheel not matching. The hole in the hub was larger than the axle diameter. I had to drill the hub out to 7/32, insert a piece of 7/32 brass tube and drill THAT out with a 5mm bit to fit the axle! No slop now!

If this is the KMP Corsair I would be interested in seeing the gear doors, since there are none with mine. Did something change?

OK. That makes more sense now. I wish they would have made the main gear wells more scale so that you could do gear doors without making major mods.

Just ordered my Corsair.

Thinking of running either an RCGF 26cc gasser or a Saito 170R3.
Decisions Decisions......

Hopefully my budget will stretch far enough to get the 170R3.

The OS 200 might be an option too.....

I have a fair amount of time before I get the plane and have it ready for engine install so will have to do some research.

I like gas engines because they are cheap to buy and cheap to run compared to glow engines, but they dont sound right and it seems wrong to use a 2 stroke in a warbird. But will see how my spendings go.

I picked up the OS 200 4 stroke , been very happy with Os 4 strokes overall .
I have not started my KMP yet , I have to finish other projects and I want to make sure my flaps are scale , I want to research the internal moveing flap that slides inbetween the flaps ect .

I have some squadron signal books and other stuff on the Corsair. I noticed some images of the flap hinge and the internal flap joiner piece. Could scan some of the images and post, but not sure if this is allowed or not due to copyright?

Looks like our Corsairs are going to come in a special version now, Cheaper... from the looks of it, about $150 bucks cheaper at Troy Built Models. hopefully that means a better value for the money spent. What i couldnt grasp with KMP's $479 dollar price tag wasn't the quality of the kit as much as the quality of the construction manual lol. For $150 price reduction i'd take it without that useless 10 or so page manual. It appears to be allmost the entire kmp choice of warbirds are on a diet at Troy built models. Aint no complaining here. I just hope TBM doesnt recoupe the difference in their shipping fee.

I just googled it , that tells me that
1)KMP is in trouble
2)TBM has negotiated a better deal with KMP instock items
3)planes are not selling at the $479 price
4)That pisses me off , I paid the $479

even the brand Dauntless is $299 holy sh..................!!!!!
wow

You're pissed off... tell me about it! I paid $730 for the kit with their Gen 5 retracts, all i have to say about that is "JUNK" . I havent even gone to maiden the thing because the whole retracts affair with its lack of reliability made me put it off till i can get something more reliable before i'd try to fly it. Anyways the link is Troy Built Models. Just out of curiosity, I went to KMP's site and was surprised to find some of the links to their warbirds were inactive, somehow i'm not suprised, or maybe they're adjusting their prices!

LDM,
I mostly agree with what youre saying except that its also a possibility that TBM has negotiated a better price with the China/Hong Kong supplier as well.
