jesupslanding -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (6/17/2008 7:23 PM)

if the had straight sides they r more likely to flip

Kfoss1 -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (6/17/2008 7:55 PM)

Towers got $25 off a $199 order and $30 off if your in the club. With the $30 off and free shipping I had to order one. Or I should say backordered one, supposed to be in early july. I was going to do a kit or boogie board but the gator won out when I saw it.[:D]

Kfoss1, glad to hear you ordered one.[:D]

I looked it up on tower earlier http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXURN3**&P=ML
Expect it to cost less. Their prices are close to always lower when a new product arrives. And I highly doubt it will be $90 more than the AquaCraft Air Force but we'll see.

Kfoss1 -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (6/17/2008 10:08 PM)

Couldn`t resist, club members get it for $259 with $30 off of that made me jump. Now lets see when they become available.

bigtreds -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (6/18/2008 2:41 AM)

hpiguy -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/2/2008 5:59 AM)

.

Russ Williamson -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/12/2008 8:40 AM)

Sorry all, it will be late August when the Alligator Tours will be available. We had to source a new glow plug at the last minute, which was scheduled to arrive at the end of this month. Takes a good plug when pushing:)
The plug we had was only good for 2 - 3 minute run. New plug is a LR3 made by O.S., it is very good plug.

If any of you are near Evansville, IN from the 17th to 26th of this month, plan to have one there to run after a day of racing. Can't wait to try taking it around the buoys:)

Have fun!
Russ

May we ask what plug not to use ?

Kfoss1 -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/12/2008 5:09 PM)

Sounds like the boats are here, just not being released yet, is that right?

Russ Williamson -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/12/2008 6:03 PM)

There not here:(

Russ Williamson -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/12/2008 6:10 PM)

We found only one plug that works really well so you are not chasing the needles throughout the run and have a good transition from idle to full throttle, that is the DTXG3010 LR3 plug;
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=lr3

This is the plug that will be included. We tried 8 other types/brands. Some others will work, but not as good. I'd stay away from a "cold" plug.

Thanks,
Rw

Kfoss1 -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/12/2008 6:27 PM)

Thanks Russ! Is the included tactic radio AM?

Kmot -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/13/2008 2:51 AM)

Who makes the Tactic radio? Is that another offshoot from Futaba?

hpiguy -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/13/2008 7:25 AM)

The engine doesn't sound very user friendly, which is odd for an aircraft engine, usually they run very easily.

Russ Williamson -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/13/2008 7:29 AM)

The engine is very user friendly, it is a SuperTigre G34 airplane engine. Been around and proven for years.
Plug had to be changed because it is being used in a "pusher" application.

Thanks,
Russ

Russ Williamson -> RE: AquaCraft Alligator RTR (7/14/2008 7:12 AM)

This is not made by Futaba. However, same radio we have used in many other boats, very reliable 27mhz system.
Thanks,
Rw

Anytime you take an airplane Glow engine and remove the needed air cooling from the prop you will have issues. When I saw Aquacraft's Gator I was very suprised.... it's a pusher. I just want to know who will warranty this engine when poeple burn them up. You know some JOE out there will be running on the ground full throttle uphill going 2mph not thinking of the needed cooling. Then he burns it up on the first day. I really hope this is not a bad move on Aquacrafts part. Seems if they would have stuck with the Airforce and made it better it would be better for our hobby.
