There are three or more different types of failsafe, ranging in functionality. The main categories are failsafes are those which apply brakes in the event of: - signal loss only (if you go out of range, or have a TX problem, the car automatically brakes)
- signal loss and low voltage (same as above, but also activates and applies brakes when your receiver battery runs out)
- Signal loss, low voltage with engine cut off (all of above, except, in the event of any kind of radio interruption/failure, the car applies brakes AND switches off the engine instantly).
I highly recommend investing the extra $10 or so, in a failsafe which cuts the engine off. A runaway 25lb car at 40mph is likely to do serious damage to anything it hits, including people, property and small children, who have a habit of getting too close. You have been warned.
