Seal the engine, carb, and green slime the needles then if it still runs hot then change plug, fuel, nitro %, or maybe the pipe. if it still runs hot then let it run hot.

I'm going to start tuning by eye and ear (sound and performance) and not worry about temps.

I'm not sure if running a cooler plug will bring down temps or a hotter plug.

are you running 20% or 30%
if your runnin 30 u might need to add a shim to the head. thats what it sounds like to me if its not an airleak , its one of the 2 or both

i'am running 20% nitro fuel....when checking for air leaks,i used soapy water applyed with a small brush...is there a better way to check for air leaks? also i tryed removing the carb, took out the screw and the carb still wouldn't move not even budge alittle, tryed looking my engine up online, but that don't tell you much...so how does the carb come off? what am i missing?

loosen the screw on the block by the carb, then your carb will pop out. You may need to twist it a little to get it loose so you can get it out.

I don't bother checking for leaks, I just seal my engine's right from the start so there is no chance of a leak.

To remove the carb, you might have to loosen the nut and give the bolt a little tap into the case. The bolt has a notch in it that grabs the carb, and it doesn't always want to let go without persuasion.

When I got mine it had no o-ring in the backing plate. It did not matter what I did, it refused to be tuned and would get hot. The STS can be frustrating, especially if you need parts. What are you running it in? BB

I am guilty of just cranking mine up and wailing. I think this is the longest Savage wheelie I have found a video of, I wish we would have got it from the start. It was hard to get it aimed straight down the street and away from any objects. I should be keeping all those broken parts, my drum would be filling quickly. BB
