Hey guys! I just got a new truck that I bought off an RCU member, sloppyG. He shipped it out today from CA so I should get it by Tuesday if Fedex tracking is to be correct. The truck comes as a used roller with a few spare parts, the stock nitro gear, a spare body, a 4800 k/v Medusa V2 motor (brushless), and the RC-monster electric motor mount for the crt.5. I will be running the medusa V2 using my novak GTB esc (if it gets too hot I'll buy a MM and use that instead). Batteries for now will be nimh, though it is a good pack of trinity matched IB4200's. A 5000mah neu 2s pack will be coming shortly. Might get a 3s pack later on too : ) The body is green (as is the spare), I might get another body further down the road and paint it up though the green is a nice color. For tires I think I might be using some on road tires and I might get a set of more aggressive treaded tires since I won't be running on a track and the bow ties might wear down too quick. Radio gear will be my 3PM and its receiver and I'll probably use my futaba 3305 servo in there. I'm also going to sell the graphite servo mount (sloppy cut up the metal one to accommodate the electric motor) on ebay to fund a sheet of carbon fiber which I'll use to cut out some shock towers, a center diff plate, a servo mount for the steering servo, a receiver and ESC mount, and perhaps I'll cut the metal plate that is currently covering the servo saver, maybe I'll cut that out of CF too. I can get a sheet of CF off mcmaster-carr for pretty cheap so I prefer to make the part myself rather than buy $100 worth of CF parts. I might also make some skid plates out of aluminum sheet although the truck already has the maximizer set on there. Alright enough talk! Here are some pics that sloppyG took. I'll post up some more photos once I get the truck early next week!

hehe that'd be sweet! I actually moved to Belmont a few weeks ago (thought I updated the address, guess not!). Should be a really fun truck! I might get a monster max for it in the future since I want to get one anyway for my emaxx so I might just do the old velcro swap : )

well for the 3s part, I'm only planning to run 7.2V (6 cell pack) for now, and then bumping up to a 2s pack a little later. For 3s I'll get either the MM or the monster max. As far as sensored only, I hadn't even thought about that! I know that some people have run a GTB with some of the neo motors, those are also sensored as the velociti motors are, but I don't think they have compatible sensor cables so they probably ran it sensorless. I might have to call novak on this one unless someone knows for sure. Another option is that I could run my 4.5R velociti motor in there, although I'm very sure that it will overheat! I could also buy another velociti motor and run one that is more appropriate for the crt.5, but I think compared to the medusa motor, they aren't nearly as good in performance. I would probably rather buy an MM or perhaps a sidewinder over getting a new velociti.

booooo!!! I called novak and they said it HAD to be a sensored motor. They told me I could run a feiago, hacker, and lots of others, just not a sensorless motor!!! I think I might try running it anyway, I don't think it can mess up my esc or motor, probably isn't super smooth since the esc doesn't know the position of the armature, but it should be fine. Has anyone tried this with success? I might call medusa and ask them for a second opinion since Novak might just want their esc to run sensored only, or perhaps they're trying to get me to buy a novak motor!!!

I'm running a 6.5R in my .5 right now. It's good, but I was wondering how the Medusa motor works. The 6.5 gets pretty warm after a run, but I've got to high of a gearing right now. It does move along pretty good though.

Good choice on the Neu lipo. I doubt you will want a 3s since on 11.1v the medusa will be running at over 50K rpms. At those rpms, heat may be an issue. 2s is perfect... ~35K rpms is ideal.

okay got an email back from medusa, they said that the GTB can only run sensored motors. So a sensored ESC means ONLY sensored motors, unless they have a sensorless feature built in, which the GTB does not : ( No getting off cheap for me! I'm thinking either a sidewinder, just to get it up and running for cheap (it'll go into my pajero or my TLT with a slower BL motor as soon as I upgrade), or I might just bite the bullet and get the mamba monster now. What do you guys think?
