well, I've been all spring with no crashes, this morning I went flying and lost the tail.. upon further inspection, I found that the top gear spun loose on the tail drive gear, damn! I've got the upgraded aluminum one, is there any fix for this? I'm not remembering and can't find a set screw to hold it in place

also, I've got an aluminum gear on the rear tail shaft that I can't get the shaft out of, any ideas how to get it out without ruining the gear?

thanks in advance...

i dont have an answer for you, but i was wondering how long you've had the same tail drive set before it went.

I built the heli in October of last year, put the upgraded aluminum on the initial build, didn't fly much over November through May... makes me wonder if that was worth it? I've got a stock one I'm going to put in when I get off of work in the morning I guess...

Here I come to save the daaaayyyy!!!

The metal tail drive pulley is a light press fit. You need to remove the entire unit, clean the shaft, dab some blue loctite on it and press the pulley back down on it. How do you know this for sure 'Teabagger? Because I bought this same exact part because I got tired of having to replace the plastic version anytime it spun loose.

It's not broke bro.

Actually, if you use your stock shaft, and press the new aluminum gear on it, then it REALLY works like a champ.

well, I thought about it last night.. thought about soldering it... loctite crossed my mind also... then I realized I work in a metal shop (that piece of pipe hitting me helped, lol) I'm going to see if we can weld the pulley on, it'll never move again...

The LHS only had the stock plastic one, so that's what I replaced my spun one with. I did play with the old one and ended up putting it on with thick CA. To my hand it feels VERY tight. I'll let you know how it holds up after I spin the current one & have to replace it. Doc
