In a airplane I have, I am mounting the fuel tank about 6 inches behind the firewall. Do you think this will be a problem with fuel draw, or do I need a fuel pump for this little distance? Thanks, Daz...

Just guessing but your probably right on the line. If extended verticals or blenders are in it's future I would use a pump, or get the tank an inch or 2 closer. My 120 on my Bipe is probably about 1-2" behind the firewall with no problem, but 6" plus another 3" from firewall to carb is a long way

Hello!
Why do you have to mount the tank so far away from the firewall??
In opylonracing we use the Bubbleless Tettra fueltanks sold by Dave Shadel in Nevada.(US YS importer)
These tanks could be mounted several inches from the firewall without difficulties!!
These Tettra tanks are by far the best fueltanks on the market, try one! They are expensive though!

This plane is an ARF, and comes with a round 10oz tank, so I was going to put a 16oz tank inside, the former the tank is supposed to go through is perfectly cut out for this 10oz round tank. I didnt want to open that former up to much, so I was just going to mount the 16oz fuel tank just behind the former. I remeausured it, and the fuel tank will actually be 3 inches behind firewall, which I think it should be fine. Also I'm installing a 1.20 4 stroke in a 60 size plane, so I think the fuel tank being a little further back might help me in the balancing process. Is 3 inches Ok?, and the carb is right in front of firewall by about an inch. Daz...

Hello!
Just cut away the former with a Dremel using a drumsander.7,5cm (3 inches) could effect the engine behaviour!

Jaka, I have 2 strokes that have 3 inches between the firewall and the carb, and they work fine. Fortunately my 4 stroke carb is just in front of firewall. the only gap will be from tank to carb is about 3.5 inches.Daz...
