Howdy guys! I've finally got started on the wings of my Great Planes PT-40, albit a slow go with time constraints, but moving forward non the less!!!
I've got a lot of sim time in at work (nice job I guess .... and I'm already looking for something more
I've made the wings with less dihedral (sp?) and now I'm thinking of dual servos for flaperons...
The wings are NOT joined Yet and the single servo tray is not installed either...
I have a computer 8 channel radio with all sorts of mixing and reversing (and a flaperon programming page, so I thought, Why not do this?!?!?!!!!
Even better, if someone has pics, that would be amazing.... That's a lot to hope for, so if you can, please chime in with some ideas!!!
I know it's a trainer, I just want to have some modeling fun with it.... (I'm even thinking of adding brakes!!!
Thank you to you all, all in advance!!!
Adam

I am not sure that you are going to get a lot of pics of what you want. You will just need to build servo mounting trays about midway across the aileron and in between your wing ribs. Use some control horns on the ailerons and push rods to the servo and it is done. You will also need a wire chase into the center section of the plane for your servo wires. Good Luck, Dave

Thanks Dave!!!! That's sort of what I was thinking....
But, do the trays sit up "flush" with the bottom of the wing ribs??? It seems to make sence that way, in that the servo then get mounted from the bottom side of the wing (also allowing change outs in the future...)
Am I correct in my thoughts????
Thanks again,
AP

Since you've already built the wing panels, it will not be simple to make holes in the ribs for the servo wires.

You might consider making a dual servo tray for the center of the wing and use the torque rods that came in the kit. You might need to use a pair of servos that are slightly smaller than a standard servo if the fuselage is narrow.

Hey Carrell!!! Thanks for the reply!!!
The right wing is done, and the left one is framed up but not yet glued... I do have a drill press, and can get those unglued ribs, ready for holes.... the right wing I can get to by way of a nice cordless drill (or just a finger turned bit) .... The wings are not covered yet...
Awesome responces!!! Thanks again!!!

Found it!!!!!
OK, I found this pdf on the net and thought I would the link here.... Looks like this is the direction I'll go with....

http://www.btemodels.com/Downloads/vt_dualaileron.pdf

The link shows two ways to mount the servo's, and I'll probably go with option two for the "hidden" way....
Anyway, thought I'd update, and possibly help others...
Thanks again,
Adam
