Piper511, you doesn´t seem do to get that "CLINK" in the air like the others when their V7 goes all to he** you only get a carb full of fuel. empty it and you be fine.
But this is a serious subject, I', soo sick and tired to hear all the stories about V7 engines that go "KlinK" and "Klank" in the middle of the air.
You buy a brand new heli LMH 117, put some expensive electrics in it and the engine fail in the middle of the air, in best case you get away with some broken main blades and such but in the worst case.
You might have to get a new receiver, servos, main shaft, main blades, tail boom, tail rotor case and all kind of stuff.
LMH should really address this Flaw, cause I think is a REAL Flaw in their helicopter.
Sure it's great that they replace your engine without hardly any questions asked, but do they replace your electrics and other parts that breaks because of your engine gives up? and should they really have to replacy your Engine ?, I think not, I have flying planes over 10 years with engines standing right up and inverted and I can never blame the engine for crashing my modell.

LMH Please shape up and get some new other engine in your model, cause it's a really GOOD Heli to get inroduced in helis with.

Hi Peter:

If you go back to post # 73, you will find that Piper 511 did have the most hated "clink" sound. I agree with you that LMH should be having much more concern about this issue. I can't imagine going to work in the morning and shipping out 30 helicopter kits knowing that 19 are going to have a blown motor after 2 hours of running time .. that is just awful. If it were my company, I would stop shipping the nitro machines until the problem was resolved. I can't beleive that a simple glow engine with three moving parts can't be manufactured to be reliable, as most all the rest are. Keep in mind that LMH doasn't make the engines, they are made by Norvell .... they would have been booted out the door long ago, if I was running the show. Then, there's always the possibility that the Norvell dude is a brother-in-law or something ?!?!? LOL And I also agree that the heli is without doubt the best, most bulletproof heli trainer out there. It's a shame to screw it up with a cheesy engine !

Russ

Norvel is a Russian engine company that has since gone defunct, over in the 1/2a forum are guys (myself included) trying anything to keep these engines alive, because there are no more parts being made and they are great engines...in my LMH I had 8 yes 8 head shims to lower the compression in my LMH and it ran great with plenty of power... havent run it in a while.. but it broke in fine and still has all 8 shims in it....I think the break in procedure was a big part of the problem ,,,we are used to OS engines that just start up and go and break in on the first flight.......Norvel made...049. .061. 074,.15,.25.40 engines for a short time, they are powerfull fast engines..Rog.
.they have said they are moving and retooling, but there is no way to verify this and it was stated a couple of years ago...

hi all,

just wondering if the Vmax 7 engine are still having problems since the problem was first identified and addressed to LMH.
anyone found any good and easy replacement in the same engine class? i.e. <.10 capacity?

thanks

Lawrence
