Anyone have experience's towing easyglider with a .40 size glow trainer? ... Looking to try aerotow for the first time just wondering if my Avistar with an OS LA .46 is enough ... or should i try a .70 size OS 4 stroke on it that i have laying around?

Thanks

I have not tried it but I would suspect that the .40 is enough power. I would expect take off rollout to be longer and climb rate to be a little lower though. THe same would be true no matter what is powering the tug though.

cool thanks... im putting the 4 stroke .70 on right now seems to fit ok why not? probley to much power for the avistar but i can always limit the throttle during normal flight and bring it back up if need be for the tug i like 4 strokes anyways. looking forward to trying the aerotow looks like fun.

Anyways about the tow is there anywhere specific the tug line should be attached to the tug plane?
Think im gonna try the Velcro release idea see how it works seems simple enough.

you guys answer very quickly in the sailplane forum thanks so much!

we have been towing th Easyglider with an electric plane which has power equaling a .25 glow engine. Your .40 size motor will be more than enough, no need to put the big engine on unless you will be towing heavier glider later...

guys pop over to the scale forum and research towing. There are some good tricks.
Three come to mind

Never try to tow from the hook under the fuse.
Use a large dia prop on the tug for pulling power without speed.
Tug line location is top of fuse just behind the wing. ( the ability for BOTH tug and glider to release is a REALY good idea)

Good luck!

Do post some video of your tug and the glider. It would be interesting to see.
