I have been considering converting a new ST G2300 to diesel but I have never owned a diesel. Do they have more oil residue exhaused than when operated on glow? Has anyone completed and ran this motor using diesel. I am suprised at the cost of diesel and this alone may help me decide not to convert.

Thanks for any advice.

Your best bet is to contact Davis diesel he has been doing them for years. they are power monsters when converted, Fuel cost with the nitro thing heard glow fuel do not know the nitro% is 35.00 a gallon in a Ca. hobby shop you go twice the time (approx) on a gallon of diesel at 29.95 from Tower martin

Anyone contemplating converting their glow engine to Diesel would be well advised to thoroughly break the engine in using glow fuel and the stock cylinder head. This will greatly reduce the hours of unstable running as a Diesel conversion. BTDT.

My latest G2300 is still sitting NIB. This is my third or fourth sample of this engine. The others ran very well, but did take a while to break-in. Typical Super Tigre. Great quality at reasonable prices.

In its glow form, the G2300 is a fantastic engine once broken-in and kind of miserable until the break-in is accomplished. Hang in there and you will have a great experience.

I used 5% Sig with 20% castor oil. Only because I had a lot of it available and it was getting old. Standard fuel would have worked just fine.

As Ed says, you first complete a full break in of your engine.
You may need to restrict your carb bore at about 1/3rd.
Mine is turning a 20X8 prop at 7000 rpms but it took some time to get in to this figures.
You have the advantage that you can buy ready made fuel from Davis in the USA.
