ooh, half of an acre, just currious what you plan on racing on it, here are a few pics of tracks that i have found, i will agree with you, trying to make your own track can be a DAUNTING task, especally in the "design and construction" stage.

Is half an acre too small? or good? I will be racing my buddies with mainly 1/10 scale trucks, and maybe screwin around with my muggy and mgt

With a half acre you will have more than enough room to build a track.

Not sure where abouts you are in Michigan, but we just opened our track in Rochester,IN which is there abouts 45min. south of South Bend. We have quite a crowd every Saturday to race. Lots of good people, and good times. If you're not too far, we'd love to have you join us. Seeya Round-

We used railroad style ties for ours, but you should be ok to use something like a metal rod with a solid washer style top cap (I know what I'm thinking, just dont know how to say it lol)...just place the rods every so often as to keep the pipe from flying away in the wind or moving when you run into it. The tile is pretty stout, but still easy enough to stab a spike thru.

long nails, bolts, maybe even bent pieces of metal, ive found out that (at least for garden hose) railroad spikes are PERFECT, they are tapered on the botton and wide on the top , just my opinion, if you have any demensons i could maybe give a good idea of what you can do , a good width for monster trucks is 8-12'

Took your drawing and added on where I would put jumps, molgles, table top, and banked walls!
