Do you guys think that $100 would be a fair price for this buggy?

well, looking at it, the fuel in the tank is a red flag to me... it says it was ran at the start of spring but there is fuel in the tank... bad for the engine....

IF you can get parts for it, it might be worth it... but the engine may or may not be good, if they leave fuel in the tank chances are they skip other maintenance too, the radio is sure to be a clone (looks like a futaba clone)

would this be your first nitro rc?

if the answer is yes, then i advise you to not buy that buggy

first, the seller says it was "tuned up" at the beginning of spring...
well, this is not a 1:1 car, you don't just "tune them up" and that's it
they require much more than that

second, dacaur brings up 3 very good points (fuel in tank/engine, poor maintenance and parts availability) that would make me shy away from any rc used/abused like that

and third, don't try to cheap out on this, if you want to try the hobby, save a little more money and buy a new, quality, mainstream, brand name rc - you will thank yourself in the long run

so again i say, do not buy that buggy

it may be an "ok" deal for someone with a lot of experience
but for someone who has to ask if it's a good deal
then i say - no, it's not!!!!!!!

oh ye of little faith...............looks fine to me.

Fuel in tank?.....hey, it's outdoors. Probably took the pics "before" he ran a test tank through it to make sure it wasn't gummed up and still was working OK.

Can't really go too wrong for $100. A shame if the engine is shot, but crap happens. Parts issues.....one should do a Google search to see if parts are easily available.

HOWEVER, I would never recommend a used RC Nitro vehicle for someone starting out, UNLESS, the person selling it was a friend who would help lead you through the hoops.

That buggy is 100% poop. Not worth more than $20 IMO.

sparko, how can you say its only worth $20? yeh, it may not be of high quality or a true performer. but if it runs good, then its worth $100. its rare to find a nitro RTR with everything you need to run it(ie, fuel-glow plugs-glow warmer-batteries)
i realize that some people can afford to buy the nicer rc's, but they shouldnt put down cheaper ones that they probly know nothing about. i had a wind hobby ferret, 4wd e-buggy that cost $50, and it was just as fast and tough as my mini lst with cost $200! actually, it had a 1/10 servo, not 2 dinky servos(which one died). im not saying that cheaper rc's are always good. im sure that many people have bought no-name rc's, had lots of problems with them and been turned away from the hobby. but thats not always the case. you just have to realize that the lower the money you spend, the greater the risk you take of getting junk.

its the same with real cars. if you spend $3000 on a car, you are taking less risk than if you buy a car for $1000. but that is not to say that a $1000 car wont serve you well for a couple of years and be well worth your money! i speak from experience here.

I would pass, considering the only place to get spare parts is on the Internet, from a UK site no less... so every time you break a part, you will need to order the part, pay international shipping, and wait for it to be shipped internationally.... doesn't sound like a very good deal to me... I dont buy RC's anymore unless I can get parts locally.... Shipping for broken parts adds up....

Well if you noticed I said "IMO" which means "in my opinion".

You have some valid points and I understand where you're coming from, I just wouldn't buy something like that myself.

sorry, didnt mean to jump all over your opinion sparko. mine just differs, so it bugs me alittle when people call lower quality rc's worthless. i might feel as you do if i had the money to buy nicer models. if i had more cash i wouldnt waste it only lower quality stuff either. the most expensive rc i have is my vxl, and i bought it used for $235 RTR witha 3s lipo.
