Yesterday, at the field, a Futaba guy told me that he would not shell out 600 clams for a 10C because it looked like cheap radio. I had never thought about this aspect of product selection.

Yes, I know that ‘Beauty is only skin deep’ and ‘Performance is what counts’ but I also know that appearance does affect people’s choices. Especially so for male humans.

Which one do you think is the most glamorous ?

it's easy...........the 10C is a classic example of evolvement............................the JR on the other hand is just too cluttered with purposely induced detail(in other words, BUTT UGLY!)

so my pick,

oh and one thing more, who ever designed those goofy and ugly antennas on the JR's should be shot...........those are the most obnoxious looking thing i have ever seen.

Well at least the rx's used with the X9303 don't shut down when they get hot, and JR/Horizon doesn't have some mysterious flyers club you can't join....

I can't tell you what I think of the 10C as I've not held one and seeing/handling in person is the test. Kind of like comparing a 7C FASST with a DX7, when you hold each one in your hands the Futaba is pretty cheesy compared to the Spektrum. But at least the 7C doesn't have that dippy antenna coming out of the back of the module which gives it an esthetic edge on the higher end Futaba radios.

Sorry, I couldn't resist after seeing some of your posts around the forums....

I used to fly Futaba, but Hobbico/Futaba CS (or more specifically the lack of) finally pushed me over to the "Dark Side"....

True, they don't appear to shut down when they get hot, but judging by the number of threads regarding crashes with 2.4Ghz radios, they seem to shut down for unknown reasons more than the Futaba ones

I kind of felt the opposite...The DX7 seemed more like a Radio Shack special to me.

As far as the original question regardin the 10C and 9303, I can't say I prefer the looks of one over the other. Although if the 10C had a conventionally mounted 2.4Ghz antenna, I'd like it better.

I think the Futaba looks better.

I agree. Not only does it look better than the 9303 on the screen, the 10c in real life looks a LOT better than the 10c in that picture. It feels SO much more solid than the X9303. I've held them both. The 10c wins hands down in my book.

For what it's worth, I've always flown Futaba but I almost bought the X9303. I'm not one of those people that's absolutely against the brand I don't use, I simply buy the better deal. Honestly, I believe JR radios under 9 channels look cheaper than the smaller Futabas. I believe that 9 channels and up they are on about the same level.

One more thing. No, I don't own the 10c. I would if my mom would've let me buy it....but I'm going to college and she's not sure if I'll have time to fly there. My response was: "What does it matter? I want it anyway!!"

My vote goes to Futaba. I have held the JR and do not like it. User friendly it is not. Ugly it is.

I seem to count about fifteen "thingies" on each transmitter to push or toggle(not counting trims) for the "clutter" factor. I once had a really pretty girl friend, but she was not that sharp. I would bet you'd be happy with either one.

I have owned JR, Futaba and Spektrum simultaneously, although I don't have any JR at this time.

Actually every new transmitter design has ergonomic improvements and style changes. I don't have a real problem with any of them although some of the lesser expensive models are a bit cheesy.

All that matters is you like your radio. I heard the same complaint about cheap looks when the 12Z came on the market. It is still the best radio I have ever purchased or used and that list includes the 14MZ.
