Hi guys, here is my dilemma:

I build right now a 1/5th P-47D 2RA . I use a JR 9303 and all my 9 channels are taken
1- Aileron RH
2- Elevator RH
3- Throttle
4- Rudder
5- Landing gear
6- Flaps
7- Aileron LH
8- Elevator LH
9- Smoke sys.

Now I’m looking for the choke servo. I can not do the Y- channel off, because I have direct drives in the control surfaces (no linkages) they need to be dialed in.

My idea was to put a retract servo on a switch. I don’t know the diagram to do that and a search did not any good. The retract servos need just a signal and then the travel all the way to the endpoint and stop.
I could hide the switch under a hatch next to the fuel dots.

Thanks!

Happy landings
G-Pete

What about tying your choke servo to one of the flap positions? You should be able to do that with a programmable mix.

How about a channel 3 from Oregon Scale aviation .Tye the channel 6 and channel 3 so that the throttle is wide open and the flaps are down Dought you will be flying with the flaps fully down and the throttle wide open but i may have missed some thing

If you have a three position flap switch, tie it to the middle position -neither fully up or fuly down. When you go from one to the other the glow driver won't even notice. It might cost you take-off flaps, but most guys don't use them anyway or if they do they don't need to.

G-Pete,
I went through this dilemma with my recently-completed Ziroli Dauntless.
Purchase two JR Matchbox units and install on the elevator and ailerons. They are wonderful! This is free-up the channels required for your choke, in additon to providing incremented adjustments to those flight surfaces.

I looked into that too, the flaps already tied to the throttle position. In a need of a go-around I don’t have to switch the flaps they go up when the throttle stick is over 65%.

Sorry, that don’t work either, the Jug gets a Gas engine (90cc) and not a glow, a half second the choke is closed and the motor dies.
This airplane will be build and flown scale, ergo they takeoff flaps are a necessity.

I really thought someone come up and say, hey no big deal you have to put that lead on that and that lead on this and final the third on this…may with a 3-pos switch.
Looks like I have to fry one or two of the servos to find out on my own.

Happy landings

Call me stubborn Nick,

But there is a way! I hear you about The JR machbox – guess what? I will use them to reverse the aileron and elevator. The reason? I use two receivers and two batteries for the flight controls. I put too much work and money in that bird to loose the aircraft about a faulty receiver or battery.

I keep digging…

BTW, I see you avatar – what are you doing with my ground crew? Hehehehehe

Happy landings
G-Pete
