I finshed with the canopy on the Mars last evening...went outside, took some picture, plugged in a battery and proceeded to go crash it! LOL. No damage to the canopy, but I did take out the main blades, one main blade grip, one tail blade grip, a boom strike and the vertical stabilizer...but everything else looks ok...I will tear it down tonight to make sure and get my parts ordered...I think I will upgrade my motor, metal blade grips and mixing arms...then I won't have to worry about them breaking...have to see what the wife says to that.

I looked at the pics and I think the canopy looks better in person than the pics...but I will post them this evening anyway

I will probably order them from Dave at Daves site
From his site it says he has them in stock...if not him then I will order them from Taiwan directly I guess because Hobby Lobby does not carry the metal parts.

I was considering stretching the tail as you did...but I think I am going to run the 325's from now on so I can keep the tail the same...

Nice- thanks! The plastic grips are just too light for my tastes, even though they do make a good fuse in a crash.

Ha, yes, it's nice isn't it? Makes it like a whole new heli with the long blades and tail.

I was having problems getting my pics off of the camera...but here they are...
I think it came out pretty good considering I had to paint some of it by hand. I want to get some more canopies and try different things now Maybe I can improve my air brush techniques

Nice canopy there edwin. .. glad to see back here on the forums.

i just ordered the dx6i from ushobbysupply. Helitubbies i do believe you have the same tx. could i get the settings on it for your mars? cant wait to get the new full range dx6i. I'm getting alot of weird things on my heli. i've changed everything and still get the same bad results. i thought it might be my transmitter so i ordered the dx6i to see if that's really causing my problems. two different helis that behave in the same way with new motor, esc, servos, bec, gyro could only mean its the transmitter.

here's the problem.. everything starts out perfect than just when i'm about to lift off the tail starts wagging big time. no amount of gain or throttle can make it go away. changed servo, gyro, esc, and motor with same results. lets see if the dx6i will solve my problems.

Noob, I love my DX6i! With the ability to program so much it makes it easier to get it "dialed in"
So I crashed the Mars the day of these pictures and yesterday I crashed the TRex...so I am with out a flying helicopter right now.
I have been holding off on ordering parts for either because the wife's surgery coming up is going to put a financial strain on us for a few weeks...so I may not be flying again until September But have to take care of priorities...

I read Noob that you were having problems with the Align motor...is this what you were talking about? Because when the TRex went down it was acting very strange! It would not hold a steady hover...kept acting like it was losing power but I was only 3 minutes into my flight...there was a little wind but not enough to cause me problems like I experienced...ended up going down into a large bush. I checked the battery and there was still 11.2 volts in it.
Destroyed my CF blades, broke the CF frame at the canopy connection (oh joy), stripped out or seized one of my HS65 MG's, scratched my cool canopy and probably a main shaft and feathering spindle...I have to see...I was so disappointed that I did not tear it all down last night...I will look tonight to see what else I have to repair or replace

that's exactly what i'm getting with the align motor. its the 430xl 3700kv motor. not even 2 minutes into my flight and it starts losing power. i thought something else was causing that. so i bought an bec to make sure. yet it does the same thing. lipo has plenty of charge but the motor keep losing power. i would land it, then spool it up and the power came back but after 2 more minutes it does the same thing. very disappointing with the align motors. so far my favorite motor would be the JustGoFly motor. crazy power and torque for 56 bucks. i still have mine but the shaft bearing on the motor came loose after my first crash with the mars at dave's. i did have it on the exi450 and during the crash that destroyed it the bearing came out but i manage to put it back in and use till the mars crash. such a shame too very good motor. from what ive been hearing is that the scorpion motor is all the rage. my LHS cant keep them in stock long enough for me to pick one up, i want the scorpion 6

here some pics of my new mini titan beside the mars.

guys, your prolly experiencing this loss of power so quickly because your using the wrong pinion..... its causing the motor to run inneficiently and overheating your esc.

next time this happens yank the canopy and touch the esc, see if its REAL hot. i had the exact same issue using a 3800 kv motor with a 15T pinion, and lowering the throttle curve for an acceptible headspeed.
