Im intrested out of an experimental sort of thing. would i get enough lift if i jammed some Honeybee FP blades on my BeltCP
an knocked the pitch curve flat. Would it work? as in would the blades get sufficcient lift to compensate for the extra weight of the CP.

I dont really want to try untill i hear something from the pro's

but it could be a cool experiment.

I believe that the fp blades actually have a weak Clark type airfoil to them (basically flat on the bottom and convex on the top) sooo I wouldnt see why they wouldnt work. AT half stick you might try for 0 deg pitch as the airfoil may be enough to provide enough lift. I hope your doing this with a updated tx so you can adjust throttle curve and pitch curve...
I wouldnt try this with the stock tx as you may get too much headspeed up too fast and have your heli take off like a shot for about 4 feet then run out of it and drop like a rock, or worse just be unpredictable/uncontrollable.

I don't think it would work too well. You're taking blades from a 300 size heli and putting them on a 450 size... I just don't think they have the required lift.

Yes i have a Handed down Jr 7ch radio for the job. PS if you look closely the underside of the FP blades are concave

Tis what i thought. initaily i figgured the extra headspeed would make up for it but... I guess if i attempted it then i would need
to build my own. like zima did.
Would i need to adjust the throttle too as i guess it would pick off the ground with alot less head speed.

I was just wondering if the control system would still work.....

the control system would work, and you would need more head speed to lift off on the belt cp than you would if you were using the belt cp blades....

Think about it for a sec, the belt cp blades are around 325mm. The HBFP blades are around 250mm... that's a rotor disk that's 680mm vs. 510mm, a 170mm difference.

wow thats a big area 362,984 Sq mm for the belt and only 65,025 sq mm for the fp
Laid on top of each other makes the fp look like the hole in a donut!
So in theory what rpm would the head have to spin to lift this sucker
10,000 rpm???? more?

Not sure that you'd even want to try. I doubt that the FP wooden blades would be able to handle the stress of rotating fast enough to lift the belt cp.

So if i made some 320mm FP blades but made them much wider than the HB ones. More surface area would move more air correct?

I guess it would take a bit of trial an error to get the profile and weight right.

probably not as you would have to not only make them wider but you have to make up the swept area of the belt blades. Do you really think your motor and ESC can turn a blade that maybe2 or 3 times wider then stock up to headspeed high enough to lift it.
Why not just make your own CP blades as that is where your going to be at, If your maing fp blades long enough and wide enough for a belt cp your just making belt cp blades anyway.

Yea i Dig.... I was only after an opinion none the less, I didnt expect it to be possible.

I'd imagine it would be a hard process to make blades that were light but strong. Glass fibre i guess but thats not the main problem.
It would be a lot of money on upgrades to my electrics and motor, it wouldnt really justify the possibilty of it working.

Atleast i got an answer to satisfy my curiosity.
