Status: offline 		Hello, I have a question about re-attaching a Sullivan tail wheel on an Astrohog. Earlier this year, I broke the tail wheel off of my Astrohog. It was a good break since it was relatively clean and there was lots of area to epoxy to. I used 15 minute epoxy and glued it back. I had a dead stick landing and overshot the runway. Again I broke off the tail wheel A friend of mine looked at it and said no wonder, it is balsa where the tail wheel attached. Should I trim the area on the plane and glue on a triangle piece of plywood and screw the tail wheel back on the plywood? Thanks.

Status: online 		A thin piece of light ply would help. Some aircraft grade plywood would be better. Just keep in mind to strengthen it without adding too much weight. Obviously the planes balance will need to be rechecked.
