ok...

my first post bombed out.

lets try this again......

two things I can think of....

one, mount the engine inverted see if the muffler will clear the fuselage as it exits the side. The Toni extensions should be able to do this.

two think outside of the box a bit.... see photos.
Yeah, it looks goofy, but it actually worked very well... no extentions either.

Bob

The shoestrings that wound up at my field all ended up with 4-c power on them.

I know of a few flying the OS91 and OS61 with the turbo-jett mufflers.

A few others I have seen has OS91 with pitts type mufflers on them.

Let me know how you make out with the turbo setup

start small on the prop and work up. A few minutes in the test stand will help you out a bunch.

Bob

the YS would work fine in the shoestring. 14x12 prop or something along that size perhaps...

Try the 10x10 .... its going to look really tiny on the setup...... but give it a shot.

An 11x7 would be the next step. Just keep the RPM up.

hey bob, just picked up another completed shoestring. it has a 61fx w/ a pitts style muffler in it. i think it has a 11x7 apc prop on it. what prop is the best for speed w/ this setup. not sure i am going to keep the engine. depends on how fast it flys. looking forward to your reply. thanks, russ

For speed the 11" and 12" props work pretty well...

Your OS91 will drop in place where that 61 is now. 11x9, 11x10 or 12x8 prop using the pitts muffler. (or what ever prop ya have lying around..... its not going to be that fast no matter what.....)

ummmmmm....... if you have an 11x7 bolt that on first. See how the engine responds with that.

Don't head out and buy a 10x10 just for this bird.
