I was getting orders from amain every other day and with the way the economy is going here in the states I have put new purchases on hold. I currently have an 8ight-t, t-maxx 3.3 and just purchased a Kyosho mini inferno 09. I acutally bought the inferno with rolled coins I had ($340) been saving for years. I would really like to get the 8ight buggy and planned on it but I think I will need to put that on hold for a while. I was just wondering how many other people are effected by the economy?

depends on if you work for a corporation or your self like i do. if you work for someone else your paycheck will remain the same. if you own your own business like i do you may have to watch spending as income/sales decline.

Even if you work for yourself you can loose money.. even more money then working for someone else.

I work in new home construction. I was laid off at Mercedes Homes, when the divsion was shutdown.

I've been lucky and have stayed working since I was laid off a couple years ago, only went 3 weeks without work then.

But right now you have to be an all around player, you gotta be able to do everything, and not complain about it, lol

Thankfully it hasn't messed with my RC spending

My RC spending has changed dramatically. I will probably be downsizing soon. It's a new economy and we won't shake it for a while. In the grand scheme of things, Food = important, gas = important, RC = not important

I have been retired for several years and I have been into RC airplanes for almost 30 years. My income stays the same except for a blurp in Social Security every year. I noticed the last Tower Talk the prices took a big hit as well as every thing else. I have only so much budget for RC when everything goes up I start having to cut into my RC money.

I've been laid off too many times in my life. I'm an engineer. Most of my career has been in the defense industry. That is a guaranteed layoff. But for the past 2-1/2 yrs things finally have been good for me. I now work for Cessna. They make light planes and business jets. We are back ordered and expanding. I bougt a house last Oct. In May of '06 I bougt a new Dodge Magnum R/T and even kept my old car. So for a change things are going my way. I got back into this hobby after a 14 yrs absense from it too. Not as deep as I was in the 80's. A few months ago I just bought an HPI Baja B5 SS kit too just for bashing. I am mainly a racer. So I would say I've been contributing back to the economy too. I still don't like gas going up along with everything else following like dominoes due to the high cost of fuel. I still watch what I spend too and don't by uneccessary junk because its a cool gadget. I don't even have a cell phone.

This is some good feedback, I would like to hear from more people.
Im fortunate enough (I think) to keep my Job with HP but was told last week they are closing this call center here in colorado springs and moving it to Albuquerque, NM starting next year and I do plan on moving. My speding habits have changed a lot though, I am trying save where ever I can just incase.

On a side note, I hope they have some decent RC action in NM. We have a really nice track out here and hate to leave it.

I've slowed down, but its not because of the economy. If anything I should be buying more since the dollar conversion works much more in my favour than it used to.

Being only 15, the economy doesn't affect me too much. I don't need to pay for gas (don't drive ) or other living expenses. In fact I've increased my R/C spending recently since I got back into the hobby. For about a year I was into video games and stopped playing with my R/C's. Earlier this year I sold all my video game accounts (got $200!) and headed back into the R/C world. Just got a pajero and a BL crt.5 should arrive today . I think as soon as I get my first car or motorcycle or something I'll stop spending as much in R/C's.

It's definately affected me. Last year, I had planned on attending every race in a regional series (6) this season. But now I am skipping one or maybe even two because it's just too expensive for me to travel to some of the races that are 400+ miles away.

Next year the plan is to scale back R/C purchases so that I CAN attend all the races I want to. No new rides for me, instead the money will go into gasoline. Hopefully I can save up for a nice new racing machine the year after... who knows, there might be some new class by 2010 that I will be interested in. Things can change drastically in 2.5 years too so it's hard to say where I'll be.

I did the same thing, I sold my ps2 and ps1 because my brother bought a ps3 a couple months ago, took that money and bought a Tamiya 501x Worlds Edition.

Gas prices are affecting my hometown, only the rich/sponsored drivers are going to the big races.
I'm assuming I wont drive very far for a while and just club race until this thing boils over, people have said it's just gonna get worse.

The problem is, everyone starts talking about a bad economy before it gets here - kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. By the time you start to feel inflation, loss of jobs, and a slowing economy, it's really just starting at that point. I have cut back my spending, and I foresee bleak times ahead through the second or third quarter of 2009.

It's affected me too. Only in a positive way. The strength of the euro against the dollar has meant I've been able to increase my spending dramatically (or at least increase the value of my purchases for the same outlay).

Sorry to hear it's hurting you guys.
