Status: offline 		What's the verdict on preventing the cheapo arf covering from peeling ?
Will spraying a clear coat help for the long term ?

Status: online 		i have heard that clear coat helps quite a bit. but i have never tried it myself. my last two arfs had cheap-o covering on them and taking some advice i just took good old spray-on car wax and sprayed it on them and buffed it off. no it does not stop the peeling but it slows down the process by preventing the fuel from getting under the seams. it seemed to work on my last two arfs.

Status: offline 		Clear fingernail polish works. I used my wife's & got in trouble!! Now I have my own . I do get some funny looks from my non-RC buddies when they see it in my toolbox.

Status: offline 		yes. finger nail polish is very good for this type of un wrap problem plus great for the ends of trims so they dont peel up. before you do this job you should re seal the troubled edges with the iron and make sure all is free of any oil residues then you can start sealing with this horrid smelling laquer, make sure you do it outdoors as it does have a very strong smell like in yer man cool.

Status: offline 		It helps to use a sealing iron on all the seams on an ARF when you get it, before the fuel get's a chance at it. It's also a good idea to go over all the seams with the finger nail polish. I don't think you will ever completly stop it but this all helps. ENJOY !!! RED

Status: online 		It might look like crud, but clear packing tape is fuel proof and will stick to covering that has been cleaned with trim solvent.

I used clear nail polish on my Reactor and my Wild Hare Extra 260. I'm not sure how it will be for long term but for now it works great. The Reactor is covered in Monokote and my WH Extra 260 is covered in Ultracote so it's not just the cheap covering that's having the pealing problem. Black seems to be the predominant color that is having this issue but on my Reactor it is the orange on the stab. I keep a close eye on the covering and the first sign of anything coming up and I clean the area and hit it with clear nail polish.
