I'm painting the Spacewalker 1/4 scale with red and yellow. I'm going to use 1/8" black car pin striping type between the colors. My question is, can I clear spray the whole plane after the type is in place or should I wait til after I clear spray to apply the type. My thinking is the clear will seal the type in place. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks Dick

If you are going through the trouble of painting the plane then why not spray the separation stripe as well? Then.. no issues with the tape.

Hi... before you apply the trim tape wipe the entire wing or what ever down with some windex to remove any oil from your fingers. Then make sure that the tape has had at least a day to "cure" yes these automotive trim tapes have a adhivise that will "cure" on them. Then you want to spray your clear coat on in very light coats maybe three or more. The reason for this is that the tape may lift in some spots if there is a heavy wet load of clear on top of it.

I do this on every model I build and have never had a problem.
Now on the other hand... do you really need the clear coat to begin with??? ask yourself that question. If it is just for the look in the pits then it may be better to not apply it to save weight. I don't know what size plane you are building but on the smaller ones every gram saved in weight will sure help the flying of that plane. And when the plane is in the air you can't see the Gloss anyway.

Sorry.I just saw it was a 1/4 scale. my bad
