Status: offline 		Im thinking of getting one of these chargers. I like the kong power but i hate the fact you can only charger batteries with a DC source. Is the kong power worth it over the hyperion? What are the differences in the 2 chargers?

Make sure you buy the right adapters for your batteries.

Status: offline 		Yea im leaning toward the hyperion....the only thing is the hyperion is 140 plus shipping where the kong is 199 and that price includes 2 2200mah 25c 11.1v kong power batteries......But for the kong i would have to buy a ac to dc converter which those run about 100$....

Just buy the Hyperion and then buy the double pack of kongs for $112 - total $252

The differences that I can see are that the Hyperion is AC/DC and the Kong is DC only. Not a big deal if you already have a power supply. If not you are looking at an added expense for one if you go with the Kong.

The only other major difference I see is that the Hyperion is only rated at 50W max output. You can see the specs on This Page under the charge current. The Kong charger is rated at 100~125w. That means it is about twice as powerful. If you are only going to be charging 3s 2200 or so packs at 1C for (11.1v X 2.2a = 24.42watts) then the Hyperion will work perfect for you. However if you eventually want to charge larger 6s packs the Hyperion will be underpowered. For instance a typical T-Rex 600 pack is going to be a 6S 4800mahh pack. That means your charger would need to be capable of (22.2V X 4.8A = 106A). It does not mean that the Hyperion won't charge large packs but it will do it slower.

So in a nutshell. If you must have an AC/DC charger the Hyperion is a great choice. The Bantam BC6 is another great AC/DC balancing charger. However if you are planning on getting a larger heli down the road that uses larger higher voltage packs you might look seriously at the Kong or some of the other more powerful chargers out there.

So it all depends on what you need right now and what your future plans are in RC. Myself I recently with a pair of Hyperion EOS0610i DC only chargers to go along with my Hyperion EOS1210i. The 0610s are rated at 250w and the 1210 is rated at 360w.
