What are you worried about jumoing it? If you want a trick for jumping then get the Stampede. The Slash is built for dirt tracks with small jumps. Have you ever seen the 1:1 CORR truck series racing?

yeah ive seen them raced before, ive been to a Monster Energy corr race in pittsburgh last year and i understand its not for huge jumps but it is still fun. I think that i will just get the big bore shocks and live with the fact that it hits a bit!

On my slash i have the shocks in the outer holes on the a-arms, 45 weight oil, 1 hole piston, and there are shock limiters on the inside of shock, took those out, 1 medium and 1 thin spring spacer on each of the back shocks, and one thin spacer on each front.
Another thing i have done is taken the progressive rate springs off, and put standard traxxas springs on. I can tell you that i can hit a 2 and a half foot tall jump, resulring in about 6 feet of air and anywhere from 20 to 30 feet of distance with only minor chassis slap, and it still handles pretty well in the rough.

Sounds like the way to go for a jump truck. I used to run three jump trucks(Stampedes)with my two sons but I made a g10 fiberglass plate across the towers so I could drill extra shock holes about 5 to 7 mm higher up than stock and I used 1/8 scale buggy shocks from the 9.5 ofna buggy. We jumped them all day long and rarely broke a thing except wheels. I have a spare set of RC8 shocks lying around and I think I.m going to the base ment to get them fitted up on my slash right now.

okay that is a great idea i might have to do that. I have my old Revo, so before the thing gets sold i think i might take out the spare shock spings and throw them on the slash! Thanks for the idea

I was really looking forward to getting one of these, but some of its features really turned me off. The two that stuck out the most were how it can bottom out pretty easily, and how the steering servo is exposed and on the underside of the truck. Why would they leave it uncovered like that, especially when it's made to go in the dirt/sand? hopefully someone will make a part to cover that up.

With that said, good to hear it's a fun truck. Good luck with it!

The servo is also exposed on the T-Maxx and E-Maxx and I have never had a problem with it on those trucks.

Watch this video of the Slash racing against some other 1/10 nitro and electric stadium trucks. The only bottoming out problem I have had with the Slash is going of to big of a jump.

the exposed servo isn't a problem, but I guarantee someone will come up with a skidplate for it. As for the bottoming, thats something ALL stadium trucks do. Stadium trucks are designed to bottom out on jumps, so that they can soak up the smaller stuff easily, if you had springs/oil stiff enough to keep from bottoming on big jumps, then it would be too stiff to handle well in normal driving. Its definitely NOT a monster truck, and doesn't have anywhere near the suspension travel of a monster truck, so if thats what you are looking for, this isn't what you want.....

hey guys a car ran over the front end of my slash lol. i was driving it in the street and a car was coming so i ran it close to me next to the sidewalk. i then accidently pressed forward instead of reverse and wham the car ran straight over the front left wheel and chassis.

amazingly only the bearing carrier busted and the shock popped open and all the oil flew out. a small insignificant piece of the chassis broke off. the front body had a huge dent but i simply popped it back into place.

i replaced the bearing carrier and i still want to use the popped open shock. i can screw it back on. i have some old xl-1 stampede shocks. will that shock oil work and how much do i put into the slash shock? do i fill it up? didnt mean to hijack the thread.

all that being said, WOW, i was expecting a ton more damage. a freaking car ran over it!

I agree, the servo mounting is tried and true and has never been an issue. The truck it's self is more of a play racer. COOR is a racing organization and the truck is designed to look that way. The natural place to get this truck to shine is on the race track. That is where I am concentrating the tweeks I am making. The rear sway bar is complete and working well, the front sway bar is in the works and adapting 1/8th buggy wheels is very close. I have fabbed up a front shock tower so I can use buggy shocks and the rear tower should be done this week. The last thing it needs is some rear toe in and I dont have a clue how I am going to achieve that.
