Hi i am new to this forum. It is not my first forum to be on nor my first time with RC vehicles. I would just like to tell everyone that the NEW Traxxas Slash is probably the most fun and most bulletproof electric i have ever ran! With its flat bottom and good suspension it actually soars off of jumps! I have yet to hit a jump and not land on at least one set of wheels! Right now all i have on it is the Titan motor but i will soon be upgrading to a sidewinder brushless. My friend has one with a sidewinder and it is a blast! I give the Slash a 5 out of 5

i looked at one in the LHS, seemed the suspesion was really soft, and the wheels can rub the inside of the body if jumped hard. have you had this happen, or adjusted the springs?

I here alot of complaints about the soft suspension. I think what Traxxas might have been after here is to have it sag a little while in a resting possition. So that the a-arms come straight out instead of angling downward and bringing the ride heighth up. My theory on this derives from Acual CORR Racing regulations. Suspention regulation is 10 inches ride height. To quallify the truck has to pass over a 10" block. The block must bearlly touch bottom of the truck.

But then having the chassis raise up like the pede kinda defeats all this.

All I know is I'm getting one shortly and I would like to convert it to Nitro and straight axle rear with brakeline roll cage to really set it off.

Wildest.....what ever you do stay out of the VERSES Thread. The whole thang is

Actually, the sagging suspension is how any vehicle "should" be set up for the best handling, lower suspension arms level at ride height. For good handling you need up AND down travel... not everything you hit is going to be a bump... there are dips too, right? The only problem with the slash is the lack of swaybars, with some swaybars it would handle like a race truck... but its not supposed to be a race truck, its supposed to have plush suspension, and swaybars would take some of the plushness away, and hurt rough ground handling and jumping.... Any vehicle set up to achieve maximum ground clearance so that the wheels have no down travel will not handle as well as it could if it were set up properly....

Boy I tell ya my Savage ss use to look pretty cool standing on it's tippy toes.....but I think the part I had to replace most was the body.

Is the slash set up to acomidate any S.B. addition?

ah, swaybars. i wish some one would make some for the rusty vxl. at the speeds of my 3s lipo is capable of, it can get really squirly. any of traxxas models would do better with a good sway bar.

I race an Assos. RC8 and a BCE Jammin CRT and the sagging suspension and realistic attitude of the truck is what attracted me. I have never run electric and was always annoyed by them. Now I have a Slash with a Mamba Max 7700 brushless with a Maxxamps 20c 5000 battery. I rigged up a sway bay on an RPM rear shock tower and the truck just flat out handles. I packed the diff completely full with Bad Horsie diff grease and the truck is so easy to drive fast on dirt or pavement that I am putting it on the track. I have 1/8th scale buggy wheels just about figured out since they are about the same diameter and width with way better traction and choices. It's a flat out blast!

sway bars are easy to make... I made one fore my original t-max way back in the day (before the widemaxx)
get some stiff wire, the stiffer it is the stiffer your suspension will be.. you want stiffer for smoother surfaces, and lighter for rougher surfaces.....for a simple but effective swaybar all you need is a place that can "capture" the bar on the chassis, and a couple zip tires to connect it to the suspension arms... here is a pic of my t-max swaybar from 2002, i used the bumper mount to capture it to the chassis, and zip tired it in two spots to each rear arm.... it worked great and it was free...

They are easy to make. I attatched two sway bar hold downs(from a Mayhem buggy) to the base of the rear shock tower, and made the two pivot arms from the same buggy longer by cutting the head off of a longer screw. The pivots from a buggy are too short and have to be extended up to the level of the sway bar or you will loose all your down travel. They go on the back of the suspension arm. You have to play with the length until every thing moves smoothly and there is several holes there to choose from. I'll post picks before the weekend is over. I used 3/32 piano wire from the hobby shop.
