I've seen numerous posts about the three speed, and a few about the two speed, but I'm still in a bit of a pickle.

I have a savage 25 with it's origional engine. It used to shift, but when I attempted to adjust the shift point, it stopped shifting completely. I started in small increments as advised. I believe I have the engine tuned properly, and the slipper is set appropriately.

I looked up shift point recommendations on HPIs websight, but was only able to find set points for the three speed trasmission.

They recommend 3 1/2 turns as the standard seting for the three speed, which surprised me since my two speed only has about 2 1/2 turns from fully counter-clockwise to fully clockwise. Does this sound normal?

I did take the transmission apart and didn't see anything wrong.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

nope it sound all good cuz the 3 speed has a lower first and a higher 3rd, so the points are a bit different the stock shift point on my X ss is 1.5 turns past the line, but it should say in you manual, if not i'ld email hpi if you're unsure

Start with it one ful turn out from bottom and increase it in 90 degree increments until it shifts. Are you familiar enough with it to know what gear it is staying in? BB

Thanks for the info. I'll try the settings you recommend tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure I'm stuck in first gear, but not 100% sure. Top speed is less than impressive, but then again, it's not taking off like a rocket. (my tamiya s-10 stadium truck outruns it at the moment!)

What engine are you running? If it is not running properly, that may be the source of your non shifting transmission. BB

I'm running the origional .25 that came with it. It seems to run fine. (At least it sounds fine) It'll start right up, but when I eventually run it to top speed, it just hits a nice high rpm, sounding like it should shift, but just doesn't shift.

Hopefully if the weather holds out, I'll get a chance to try out that setting you recommended.

Thanks!

I am hoping that will be tight enough to keep it in low and as you adjust it, out, you can pick up the shift. I have read where some guys had to run their trucks bottomed out to get the shift high enough. I hate the thought of crushing that spring and running it there, but if that is what it takes.... I think they had switched to Piccos or LRP engines. Anyway, good luck and I am pretty confident that will let you walk into second within a few adjustments. The nice thing about approaching it from a too high rpm side, is when you get it to shift, you will be pretty close to right. BB
