I have an extra 40 bucks, and was thinking about buying the xtreme motors for the cx2, was wondering if they are worth the money, and do they help performance, outside flight at all?

I like them. With carbon brushes I don't think they are too much better, but the silver ones were better. But I only got around 70 flights on the silvers before they wore out. I like the fact that you can replace the brushes instead of having to buy a new motor. And the top is open to help cool it better.

The way you describe you fly they might be worth it. But I don't fly very agressive, but I like to know when my brushes are going out and be able to replace them.

Yeah it might be wise to save the money for the CPP or a future helicopter.

I was just browsing this thread since I took out the CX yesterday (was raining here) and I think I need new motors. Then again, I might just do the same and use that $$ towards a new indoor heli.

Deftones123,

If you have the $40 to spend, I think the Xtreme's are worth it. I fly my CX2 outside, even with a little wind, and they appear to be a bit stronger than stock motors. Much cooler than stock motors as well. I also have the carbon fiber boom which helps. The way that I see it is, even if you upgrade to a CP Pro or 400, there are still days that weather won't allow you to fly outside. I personally like the option of having an indoor flyer too.

Version1's are on sale for $14 each!, that leaves scratch for extra brushes or blades

The version 1 were the originals.
The version2's have a new winding and a more vented case.

I have been flying the version1s for about 6 months, they are great. I have not tried the v2's yet because I have not seen the need to upgrade.
